We also need 4 club homegrown players so for next season that would be Kane and 3rd choice keeper(?)
Kane, Alli, Davies, Whiteman (+ Winks & Rose)
Tanganga, Sessegnon, Skipp & Gedson are U21, so aren't counted towards the 25-player limit.

I like Winks, he plays with his head up always looking for the forward pass, in a team like City with all the movement in front of him and an excellent 10, he would look a very different player.

I'd be disappointed seeing go off to city, when we finally have a DM that can allow him to play his game.

Also you know pep is going to get the absolute most out of him.

It sounds plausible to me. Guardiola always looking for tidy English players to meet the home-grown quota. Would presumably mean Ndombele stays and we block Skipp going on a loan (to keep as a Hojbjerg reserve). Might be only way Jose gets money to bid for Skriniar or other targets. (I’d love to see money put towards Grealish - a proper Eriksen replacement.)

I don't see us getting Grealish for 40m, as soon as that bid is made UTD will gazump us

Yes would love to be outplayed by City, our midfielders chasing the ball while Winks are pulling the strings for them. What a wonderful feeling.

In European Comps, you need 4 Club HG players as well as 4 HG players to have a full 25 man squad. In addition, a player has to have been at the club for 2 years to qualify for as and U21 player (as well as be under 21 obviously).

From your list:
Kane - HGC
Davies - doesn't count as HG due to Swansea being in Wales despite playing in the English leagues
Alli - HG
Whiteman - HGC
Winks - HGC
Rose (probably going anyway) - HGC
Tanganga - Counts as U21 but also HGC
Sessegnon - HG
Skipp - Counts as U21 but also HGC
Gedson - doesn't count as HG

what is his game? Poor defensively, neat and tidy on the ball but nothing special to justify picking someone to do his dirty work

Absolutely, unequivocally want to keep Winks for another year. We really don't know what he is capable of if his defensive responsibilities are loosened and he is permitted to play a little more adventurously. My read was that his defensive responsibilities outweighed his offense ones and as a consequence, he was always playing off his back foot and for good reason as our defense was a shambles. If after a year he doesn't show radical improvement, sell him even if it means we lose 10-20m.

To me he's at his best when he's assisting the assister. A role he can't really focus while being asked to shield the back four. Something he's not suited.

They’ve been sniffing around for a while haven’t they. I wouldn’t sell him at all. He has his detractors but that’s mainly when he is paired with sissoko in midfield and is left there alone while Sissoko goes on a wander.

Sometimes you have to make hard choices that could be beneficial to the squad in the long term. Been a while since the club may have made an unpopular choice. They might have another in a year to make.

People point to other teams selling players and reinvesting - Eriksen comes to mind a couple of seasons ago - and now we're facing (possibly) two this window.

I'd do it if it meant we flesh the squad out with players the manager wants. (if there was genuine interest/offers on the table)

As previously stated Winks leaving is very much a possibility, if the right offer comes in of course (as with any transfer)

As it’s Man City I would pull their trousers down as much as possible on the price. Then a little bit more. I wonder if this is his agent sounding them out though more than anything else, if he’s as unhappy as you’ve previously suggested might be the case because of a worry about game time. But, he’d still get plenty of games here, more than he would up in Manchester anyway.

Nah I want to see him next to Hojbjerg before deeming him done in a Spurs shirt. Chuck a dedicated ball winner next to him and I think he'll be much improved.
