I’m a big HW fan and a couple of years ago just before another injury, many of us thought he was just about to catapult himself into a world class midfield player that would be first choice in the england team for a decade

Sadly that didn’t happen and he hasn’t progressed as we’d have liked. Personally I think it has a lot to do with all his injuries and the chronic injury (ankle!?) that Poch talked about a while ago

For me (as a big fan) he’s had some very very poor and disappointing games of late but has been excellent in the last 2

Whether this is due to sometimes feeling really fit and well and other times playing with pain, I don’t know but imo quite a lot of the time he seems to play within himself and seems to be holding back, fearing another injury setback

Fingers crossed he can continue to manage his Injury issues but I fear we'll never quite see the HW we hoped we would
I don't think he's been that poor but the team as a whole has been pretty bad and very few have been performing anywhere near their true potential.
I'm just really hoping that he's going to kick on from here.

The last few games he's impressed me more than he has for a while. Wether this is accurate or not I don't know but I feel he's picking up the ball and driving forward with it more often than before and generally trying to be more dynamic and have a much more positive affect on the team. Both in that regard and in the positive intent of his forward passing. Well done and three thumbs up from me.

Modric learnt how to do this for at roughly the same age too. Until then he was a few moments amidst a lot of pure safety.

Carrick to, in his final six months for us, come to think of it.

Maybe, just maybe, learning your trade in the most important and exposed position on this pitch is a bit harder than this forum full of Hoddles seem to think...

Harry's upturn in form seems to have coincided with Lo Celso playing with him. It's either made him raise his game or just playing with better players helps him reach a higher level (or both). You can tell Jose's trust in him is also growing which must give him a real boost. Either way I welcome this and long may it continue, love seeing this guy celebrate he is proper Spurs.

Be interesting to see if how we set our front 3 up where we're looking to go full throttle when we win the ball whether we see that Winks produces more in the final 3rd. I think in recent games he has done so on a more consistent basis throughout the games as opposed to here and there.

I think he's played well in the last couple of games & he looks at his best when he's carrying the ball forward & I think Jose is getting through to him.

Based on?
Nothing but a gut feeling.

I just think we'll be keen on him come the summer. He'll be sold by West Ham I'm sure of that.

He's English so good for squad numbers, young, and has plateaued after showing early promise.

He'd be right up our/Levys Street.

Depends on West Ham going down and how much they’d want

If it makes good business sense I’m sure we’d be in for him

Early in his career he had some fantastic games for them but is now clearly treading water.
For his own sake he needs to move on but I’d be surprised If he left in the summer unless they were either relegated or if not then offered silly money by a club that offers silly money! (ie not us!)

If he played at Leicester or Wolves he’d be showing up in everyone’s transfer wishlists with posters saying maybe we could get him for £45m in the summer.

I'm not having the Modric and Carrick comparisons. The latter has always used the outside of his right foot beautifully, as well as the inside- and he can shoot from distance. This opens up all manner of angles. Carrick's two footedness also did.

Young Harry has the inside of his right boot and that's it. He does that well but that's not enough for a team that wants to win trophies, given his defensive game is also limited.

Not really sure what this means. I'd likely take Moutinho/Neves or Nidididi or whatever his name is over Winks in my wish list. If we could sell him for 45m i'd do that in a heartbeat.

The thing about Winks is to curb the expectations people have, he won't be a Modric but he will be a valuable squad player for us at CM, loves the club and is HG. Other than that i'm happy with his recent turn in form, but he is unlikely a starting 11 player for us when we finally sort out a DM,

Don’t be obtuse, you know full well I was making the point that two of our best CMs in modern history took till around this age to come out of their shell (and countless other CMs) so we should give a Winks the same patience, not that I was sayings Winks is as good/ will be as good as Modric or Carrick.

You should be used to it by now, people love twisting comments like these in here.

Lo Celso is always on the move and looking for the ball. Winks has unsurprisingly got his reputation as an unimaginative passer whilst playing mainly alongside Dier and Sissoko. Winks, Lo Celso and Ndombele could form quite a formidable midfield 3.

even dembele who is now seen as the goatest of goats was rightly being kept out of the side by mason and bentaleb at the age of 26. hell i even remember him being strongly linked with a move to sunderland around that time and most were ambivalent to the idea.
