I thought he looked a bit better. Some poor and sloppy moments, but generally looked upfield more.

The game bypasses him on many occasions. He is a nice footballer but nothing else.

Winks doesn't have the physical presence in cm. You don't look at him and think he will take charge and boss the game.
He shouldn't be a starter for us, but who should be at cm at the moment....

No you don't look at him like that at all.

You see him more as the ideal boyfriend for your 18 year old daughter because he hasn't got it in him too smash her back doors in.

He's being played out of position. He's not a DM, not even close. Sadly he has to play there till we find/recruit one.

Would be a much better player further up the pitch. I wonder would Mourinho ever consider Sissoko as a DM to 'free' Winks? ?

Winks should be moved. He is a worse version of Jorginho. Doesn't make dangerous passes, is not a great defender despite having good positional awareness, is not a direct dribbler like Lo Celso, and somehow he is a worse finisher than Wanyama. Love the passion he shows (if passion was enough, only fans would represent the team), but he is 24 years old and isn't any better than his 20 yr old version.

He’s not developed as much as we’d like but as a reserve who can come on for more expansive players when we’re winning to help us see things out, or come on when we’re struggling to get a foothold to help us gain control, he’s fine, and more so as a bit of an all rounder he’s more than able to rotate in and stop us flogging Lo Celso for instance.

He has his limitations but regardless of formation, there’s definitely a place for him within the 4/5 CMs we need to compete.

I don't disagree with you that he could be a 5th CM/CDM option, but i have a view that we should get rid of quantity and bring in quality. Ideally him or Sissoko would be sold. I think Winks would bring more money than Sissko, and i think that Sissoko brings a physicality that we dont have with others players.

So any midfielder worse than Jorginho should be sold? Nonsense. So the guy isn't Modric, he's still a decent squad player, won't be on big wages, loves Spurs and is homegrown at the club. He shouldn't be first choice but I see absolutely no reason to sell him.

I am not saying that we should sell every average players, i am just stating what i believe we should do to improve the squad. I believe we would be stronger with 8/9 good starters or potential good starters than with 4/5 that we currently have and a bunch average players. We have to make funds and i see Winks as good option to sell and reinforce another position. This is not a 1 window rebuild, and i think the smart way is try to improve the 1st eleven with potentially good players rather to stick with all average ones. If others dont want to get rid of Winks its fine.

Winks will bring in more money as he is home grown in the PL, and thats where the money is.

We get rid of KWP, Winks, Dele..we will need to invest more in home grown players who are either vastly over priced or not not very good, and over priced.

I know, its something the club has to look out for, but reality for me is that we not close to having a deep squad of 25 players, so i wouldn't mind a few cheap and HG players filling the squad, if that means we created funds to improve the 1st eleven. Maybe a im being too short sighted, and in no way i am saying my way is the right way, just showing what approach i would prefer.
