I find him very average. It’s also infuriating when he shoots as it’s almost always miles off.

Our midfield is so, so bad, lack of overall investment, bad buys, bad eggs, and bad luck have contrived to create something horrific.

Bad post, bad fan, bad football knowledge almost always ends in posting something horrific.

You could put Kante in our DM position and he’d struggle. We need a better defence it’s as simple as that. What we have at the moment are liabilities

We're not defending as a team, no pressing from the front, barely any pressing traps midfield letting runners bypass them which is allowing teams to breach our defence, it's not just all on the defence.

I'd like to see

Son Kane Lo Celso
Ndombele Winks
Sissoko
Davies TA/JV Sanchez Foyth
Gaz

Until January when we can buy a DM. Lo Celso as a winger isn't ideal, but maybe he can play that floating role Eriksen played in 16/17? As @doctor stefan Freud alluded to, I feel a 3 man midfield is the way forward. Just absolutely NEED a defensive midfielder.
Sissoko does a job wherever he is asked to play. However, he hasn't quite got the receive and distribute foot skills at with any pace.

Very worried that Winks will be sidelined now. Definitely doesn't fit the template of a typical Mourinho midfielder.

I'm still not sure what Winks is myself. He can't shoot and he sure isn't a defensive mid.

Agree. Which is why I'm not worried should Mourinho deem it necessary to keep him on the bench. He's a tidy player but imo not effective enough at either ends of the pitch.

I think Mourinho will have a DCM purely to tactically foul / plug gaps / organise shape (Dier initially), and then have two athletes either side (Sissoko and Ndombele) - with Kane, Son and Dele our front three, but with Dele and Son tracking back to help FBs (especially in the bigger games). I think our back 4 will initially be less adventurous, with defending their priority. Hard to see where Winks will fit in.

If we could replace Sissoko with Lo Celso that'd be great.

Agree, and I think that will be the plan in certain games. Like Olympiacos at home for example, I feel for tomorrows game he will go a bit more cautious and use Sissoko. Or it could be Sissoko and Lo Celso as Ndombele has been recovering from injury.

Ander Herrera played a ton under Jose at United. I think Winks could definitely do a job similar to what Herrera did. People always went on about how Poch preferred athletes and big, strong players too, but Winks saw plenty of time. Lets wait and see before the collective hive mind writes off half the squad for not fitting in with their vision of Jose’s Spurs ...

Yeah, you might be surprised tbh. He's very technical, works hard for the team, and has intelligence. His England performance shows what he can do in a more traditional cm role. Let's just see.

2 "hockey assists" yesterday. Was a better performance from him than previously but at the end of the game, like the rest of the team, completely disappeared.

There's no way he gets in a strongest 11 considering one position will go to a DM (Dier or someone else) and the passer position in midfield will go to Ndombele.

Winks is decent but he's not good enough for what we need in a regular starter in CM. Surely Mourinho isn't going to pick Winks over Ndombele is he....?

Depends if he sticks with a 4-2-3-1. If he does I agree winks probably isn’t in the first choice XI, but in a 4-3-3 he’s got more chance
