I'm hoping he's been playing at 80% this whole time knowing he can't be rested whether subconsciously or under Jose's instruction and now Vinicius is here he can finally be let loose again at full pelt.

I've never agreed with the idiotic "Harry Kane is a selfish player" takes from rival fans, even some pundits.

But have definitely noticed a shift in his mentality this season.

Everything he does on the pitch is for the team. Dropping deep, making dummy runs, pulling defenders out of position - and because he's such an intelligent playmaker when he does pick up the ball in midfield, he sets us on the attack practically every time.

World class.
That's Mourinho's influence. I've noticed it generally as well, a lot more team football in the final third than under Poch where you often saw greediness in the box.

Probably been said by a gazillion people... but I sincerely hope that waist-coat wearing dude doesn't overplay Harry and Dier. It would be a hugely dickish thing to do, in my opinion. Taking all bias aside... Harry has played a ton of minutes already this season, and has broken down a few times over the last three years. He should be cared for, and that means looking after his health. Southgate has no obligation to Spurs. I get that. But he does to the human being known as Harry Kane. He really should look after him responsibly.

I think he should grow a Glenn Hoddle mullet to go with his new found Glenn Hoddle passes.

Harry is England captain and hungry for goals. Even if Southgate was amenable to resting him, Harry would want to play.

Thankfully we have a squad now where we can rest him.

Ings and DCL have been in such good form recently that I'd like to see both get 90mins each in the other two games. They really deserve it, after their great performances recently.

Edit: I feel like I'm missing something here, how comes it keeps being marked as funny?

If you mean Spurs I agree, and on current form England can rest him too. With DCL and Ings on form, it would be stupid not to use that.

I reckon he'll rest him tonight but Harry will start both of the Nations League games. As others have said, even if Southgate and Jose wanted to rest him for those, I doubt Harry would let them. He's the captain and wants to be the all time top goalscorer - no way is he missing competitive matches.

Plus he is England's captain.

Harry Kane takes pride in wearing the shirt for England. That's what I want in my captain. Should he play tonight? No. But at least he wants to work his ass off for club AND country. That's the kind of captain I want. Leads by example.

I used to love the England matches that would come up on tv, friendlies or not, when I was a kid. I was football mad and there wasn’t a whole load of football on normal tv, so would rarely get to see Spurs. I always remember there being an England match around the time of Children in Need night.

Nowadays, and particularly with what is happening in the world at the moment, they’re mainly nonsense. I know Kane wants to lead England out, and score as many goals as possible, but I do find these particular ones worrying and annoying.

I want my captain to be sensible. If he plays some pointless games for your national team after the period he's been through, that the opposite of sensible. If he keeps producing goals and assists like he is, he is undroppable in any case.
