By his high standards, I don't think Kane has been at his best for a few games now.

But he has set the bar so high that even when he is'nt at his best, he can still be lethal in front of goal. Not a bad trait to have as a footballer.

Now if we could only get him scoring in August

Kane is a phenomenon. There is simply no other way to put it. What he has achieved is astonishing. I watched the mighty Aubamayang today and he literally does nothing except stand on the shoulder. He contributes nothing at all. Yet he was lauded as one of Europe's best, he isn't in the same class as Kane.

Today kane struggled for space to make an impact as he often does against packed, narrow defences, yet not only did he score the winner he could have had a hat trick! All this on an "off day"! That is incredible. He is going through a quietish patch yet has scored 4 in 4 including huge goals in the NLD, Juventus as well as today.

What a player he really is and we are so lucky to see him in a spurs shirt. At 24 he can already be considered one of our greatest ever players imo.

Do not interpret the below as any slight on our WORLD CLASS striker who I realize we are extraordinarily lucky to have, and has saved us on so many occassions!

However...just popping in here to note my general, "eye-test" observation that on the whole Harry seems to be getting much better service this season than last. I think his all around game keeps getting better and better, but as of late he has scored a few less of those worldies/outside the box firecrackers, and started to miss some opportunities that are usually automatic for him.

Anyways, he is still the top striker in the world in my book and if anything missing some chances is regressing to the mean of even other top strikers. I still think he will get back to his prior next-level ways, where you'll see him get the ball in the box and just KNOW it is finding the net.

there arent many more satisfying feelings then watching kane score a late winner during one of spurs' lethargic performances. love the lad to bits.

This was far from a "lethargic performance". Spurs totally dominated the game (75 % of possession) and created chance after chance and could have had 1-2 penalties and held CP to very few chances.
Had Spurs/Kane put away their chance they could have won by 3-4 goals. Spurs were poor finishers yes but they were certainly not "letargic".

He has the tendency to go through patches where every chance he has ends up in the back of the net, for example in September, when he was averaging two goals a game. The rest of the time he is ‘only’ averaging a goal a game and missing the odd chance - in comparison it looks like he is “off-form”. Even Ronaldo and Messi go through a run of 4 or 5 games without scoring, but all is forgotten when they score 3 hat-tricks in a row.

It was one of the worst games I've watched, bar the FA Cup ones and Southampton game, against a scratch Palace side.

I watched it with Spurs and Palace mates and we spent most of the game laughing at how poor everyone's touch and passing was - weird game!

Anyway, the only thing that really matters is that we got the 3 points and can play MUCH better. (y)

people on here really are willing to debate the most pendantic details smh .

To me this match was the defintion of a lethargic performance, I could explain myself, but I'm feeling rather "lethargic" myself and I feel their are more important battles to be fought in this life.

Easily and I mean easily could have had a hatrick today and the narrative would be he’s better than Messi.

Agree...he is unbelievable, don't get me wrong, and even when he is not scoring as much he is always contributing.

I suppose my point was that, in the past when he hasn't been scoring at as much of a heroic rate, I've felt it was a lack of service. This is the first time (*post-August) I ever remember thinking he has had a run of games missing some chances he would usually bury. But at the end of the day, this is just quibbling because he is a phenom and all (other) top strikers miss chances.

I do agree with some in here in respect of Harry of late, great character as always but has been a bit wasteful of late.

He seemed to scuff every shot against Utd which was a shame as that game deserved a humbling.

He missed the key penalty against Liverpool before making an amends late on (great character).

Juve missed a point blank header but took his next chance superbly (character).

Arsenal scored the vital goal but could easily have had more on the day.

Plus two horrific misses today and looked a bit sluggish, but again scored the vital goal (you get the drill).

The thing is with Harry, I never get mad, he's been so amazing for us, is so in tune with the club, I just feel lucky to have him, and sure enough he usually makes amends. He's like family and a footballing god rolled into one. I bloody love him.

The scary thing is he's still scoring goals at an alarming rate, there's actually more to come!

Yeah, I agree that he's in a bad run of form.

And then you realize that most of the strikers on the planet would kill to be able to produce what he does when not at his best.

If he gets back to top form...look out.

Anyone else notice near the end he took the ball prior to a throw in, was about to release it then realised the player running toward him was aurier and with a look of disgust, took the throw himself?

Made me laugh.

Anyway, the guy’s as phenomenal. Clearly a bit off it at the mo and still scoring a goal a game.

Not firing on all cylinders but still top scorer, 35 goals so far and I wouldn't be that shocked if he could hit 50 goals this season

The thing is that yeah, I agree that he hasn't been at his absolute best over the last few weeks. He's been squandering chances he normally takes, particularly those last night and against Arsenal.

Despite that the guy is still going at a goal a game over that period. He's 11 goals from his last 11 matches. The only game he didnt score in was United.

He's incredible.

He seemed to come alive the last 10 mins. Looked lethargic before that strangely

He has had a baby recently. So it’s no surprise really, either that or he was on the lash at the brits midweek but I doubt it else it would be all over the papers.
