Have to say I wasn't impressed at his outburst at Bergvall.

He is a passionate guy and all keepers shout and screams at their defences. But he has gone overboard twice, today and last season at Sessegnon during his first appearance in 12 months due to injury.

Like scream at your players all you want, but don't wait until a junior member of the squad make a mistake to go mental.

@funkycoldmedina you can disagree with the posts, I'm not suggesting bergval isn't ready and I can bet you my last dollar he himself will be as angry at himself for losing possession in that area of the pitch too.

It's such a nothing thing to be concerned about it though, player loses ball, keeper shouts at them to sort it out, happens every game.
You can say it's a nothing thing as much you like and I can disagree with you because I do. I'm all for keepers that stuff but only if it's constructive. Straight away I saw Bergvall bad been dropped in the shit so Vicario should have as well. Even more so as it's a teenager from another league making his debut and he was only minimally at fault. Go shout and ball at Romero's face for losing Vardy for the goal which was 100% the players fault but don't make a show for someone else, I can't stand that crap.

All I will say is did his team mates ball at him when he kept falling over like a pansy last season?? Or when he passes to the opposition in preseason?? He’s gonna get worse this season. I hate to say it but I think he’s overrated by us. Great shot stopper mostly. But throws himself to the floor for no apparent reason. Hope I’m wrong as I love his enthusiasm. Ways to call out players and there is ways to call out kids on their first ever start in the premiership. Don’t throw stones is what my reply would have been.

He literally secured us the draw today with that save against Vardy. But, by all means, let’s burn everything today because of a frustrating result in the first match of the season. I don’t agree with the outburst, it was misplaced and further perpetuates that whole “we lost our cool” view, but he’s a dramatic dude. He will fuck up, but he’s going to save our bacon quite a lot, too.

Fair enough. I took a break after the match because I figured I’d say something out of passion and frustration. It’s how it goes, and I think we are all in the same boat: high expectations, feeling let down again, and wondering if we are just going to keep repeating past mistakes. Just got to hope things will improve and the added depth and continued recruitment will help turn the tide.

He wouldn't have the same outburst on Romero, Maddison or Bentancur. But I guess its easier to pick on a young kid playing his first competive game for the club. I'm all for passion and telling a team mate they need to be better in a certain situation. But if you do, don't treat team mates different.

People saying ‘I love this mentality’ are completely missing the point.

What he did was absolutely wrong. Bergvall is fucking 18 on his PL debut. You have a quiet word when you can. Do you think Bergvall doesn’t know he fucked up?

Vicario didn’t make a peep at Romero when he fucked up, and that’s the point.

He picked on a kid and didn’t say boo to the big dog. It’s actually weak mentality from him more so than strong mentality.

Guys guys guys, I guarantee you all are giving this more weight / thought than any of the players. As if professional players don't give or take bollockings all the time.

Shit, I never played professionally and I've seen and done worse. I genuinely wish we had more players that got into their teammates.

Having said that, given it's the new boy Bergvall and Vicario is amongst the most passionate, obviously the optics don't look great but it's water under the bridge and Vic would have pulled him aside in the dressing room and explained his reaction to him constructively.

It's part of his game, remember him giving PEH, Romero etc the same last season.

I think some people are making more out of it than what it was. Bergvall fucked up and got told about he'll learn a hell of a lot from those around him through both positive and negative feedback.

Vicario has a winners mentality and you want that in a keeper.

He didn't 'pick on a kid' - he gave a player a bollocking for fucking about on the ball which lead to a direct goal scoring chance. I'm baffled at why this is even being discussed to be honest. It's a total non event that happens in every single match across every league.

Oh come on that’s a ridiculous take on things, goalkeepers yell at players all the time in the heat of the moment. He didn’t pick on anyone. I highly doubt that Bergvall will be all that bothered, he is on a learning curve in this league. He has talent it’s clear to see and even at 18 is a professional sportsman. As someone else pointed out this team needs more leaders.

Yeah it’s a complete non event, it happens all the time in football matches, keepers going of on a defender.

It's better to shout at a player when they don't cost a goal than to wait until he does and would feel far worse after

Are you suggesting that when a player gets upset with a team mate for not passing him the ball in a good situation they don't hold a grudge for the rest of the week then?

I agree that this is not a big deal, especially not going forward, but that was the opposite of being a leader.

Berating a young lad, a few minutes into his debut, for a being put in a shit situation by others, is tactless and won't help anyone. It was very obvious it didn't help Bergvall.

Unusually for this forum 🤥 this is turning this every day occurrence at all levels of
Sport into something that it truly is not.
I have no doubt after the match they would have been 100% fine.
For those that believe it knocked his
Confidence and he played differently arter must have been watching a different game to me. At the very top tier - this is what helps make Players.
