I always thought Le Celso was our Eriksen replacement but now feel he should play in the position we bought Ndombele for and try out Ndombele in the position we bought Le Celso for haha.
Or just play 4-3-3 and forget about the Eriksen role. I mean Eriksen was kind of just played in from the wing much of his time anyway because Alli played in the 10. Had we gone 4-3-3 he would have played 1 of the 2 advanced central roles.

Season under Redknapp wasn't it? Fractured it when some lummox that played for Stoke made a shit unnecessary challenge on him near the touchline, I'm almost certain is was that **** Adams it may have been Adams when he played for Blackpool but I'm sure it was Middle Earth FC (ruined Bales ankle 3 times and Luka's thigh)

Anyhoo ignore me for derailing another thread...

It was Birmingham and Lee Bowyer. I remember because at that time I didn't attend alot of games for various reasons and I was very exited to go to this one and watch him play ?

To be fair it wasn't the worst challenge in fact Luka went in harder. Just one of those things.

I think Ndombele pushed up with a bit of freedom and Lo Celso plus a DM behind could work well. Alternatively, if we switched to 433, Ndombele and Lo Celso either side of a DM would be a good way to go too.

Thanks, clearly I'm mistaken with my recollection and in light of that I retract my previous allegation, I was pretty positive Adams committed GBH on Luka though, maybe he did and Luka got lucky the challenge I'm thinking of.

It might be Bale you are thinking about. Adam did him twice, once for Blackpool which led to Bale doing his cruciate and once for Liverpool. Scum

I certainly wouldn't pick GLC and Ndombele in a 2. Doesn't make any sense as a pair. And I wouldn't expect josé to either.

It doesn’t make any worse sense than Winks and Sissoko.

but the problem we have is that the two, and whoever plays behind Kane, have to contribute more offensively.

If GLC is injured or needs a game off- Winks,Sissoko, Dele? No way

when he’s fit
Sissoko, GLC, Dele? Not for me.
Sissoko, GLC, Lamela? Na.

Sissoko, GLC, NDombele- yep. The two playmakers taking it it turns to go, and sometimes both going to surprise the opposition

we average three shots on target

everyone knows he’s too defensive, and more likely to sub on Winks, Gedson or Skipp before putting the two playmakers out there together

City play one holder, Liverpool one although they have three others who can do a bit of everything including score

To dare is not his way, changed my mind, counting the days down till he fooks orf

coming back more on topic, everyone needs to enjoy GLC for the next couple of years coz he’ll be rescued from the Europa by a Real or Barca soon enough

It makes far less sense than Winks and Sissoko. Winks is a player who naturally sits in front of the back 4 and covers space. Sissoko is a player who generally does what he's told and will be disciplined defensively if instructed.

To play GLC and Ndombele in a 2 you'd have to completely take away all GLC's attacking game and tell him to just sit in front of the defence. You cannot possibly have a situation where Ndombele is left on his own in CM, as that means you effectively have no one. He doesn't track, or mark space. The only way those 2 can play in CM together is in a 3 with someone else covering.

We could play GLC and Ndombele as a 2 in games where we're camped in the opposition half. When teams sit back with everyone behind the ball like West Ham. We tend to play counter attack a lot more these days though and for those games we really need a defensive midfielder in there. It's just about having those options rather than having one set way to play.

It would be great if we could end up with a team like this...

Lloris
Aurier---Sanchez---Dier---Davies
DCM
Ndombele---Lo Celso
Bergwijn-------Kane---------Son

... but Ndombele would have to pull his weight in CM defensively.

I love this guy, he is classic Tottenham, Style, Class, Substance, man that can make things happen, he is our New Modric-esque player, this is the type of player that can help us get to and excel at the highest of levels in football . Under JM style this guy will give us moments of Sexy Football which we wont see much atm due to JM's style

I think Bowyer actually got the free kick from memory? I was in the Park Lane!

Didn't he try it when he was at Stoke as well? I'm sure Bale scored a rocket for Wales against Scotland at the same time as Adam wiping him out, too. Utter ****.

I have to say I still can’t believe the people who said they’d rather have Lo Celso than B.Fernandes. I like Lo Celso a lot, he’s probably even my favourite Spurs player at the moment and rate him very highly and think with more time he will be a top top player we can build around but I’m sorry B.Fernandes right now is on a completely different level to Lo Celso.

B.Fernandes is arguably THE form player in the whole PL over the last 5-6 games and he’s completely transformed the way Man.Utd play, he links play, gets goals, assists, can pass, shoot, dribble, vision and can take penalties and corners and free kicks. Sure i’m very happy with Lo Celso and his potential but if it was a straight choice between the two right now I’m sorry but it’s a no brainer as B.Fernandes is an absolute gem of a player and I’m very gutted that we missed out on him. Also a shame we couldn’t add both as I’d love to see them linking up and think if that was Poch’s plan then the re-build would be looking pretty tasty.

Mourinho would still be starting Dele so wouldn't matter.

High praise.

For those of you thinking Ndombele’s spurs career is all but over, remember Lo Celso was in a near identical position under Jose at the start of his tenure. Things can change.

Absolutely love this from Mou. GLC can be world class and he seems to have the right attitude. Can't wait to see how bright his future is.

I get where you're coming from.

When we were looking at Bruno I always felt he had the potential to be a Luis Suarez type of player. The type of player that truly transforms a team and takes them from being an also-ran to a genuine challenger. That leadership, arrogance and pure intention that only certain players have. Bruno was THE man at Sporting and absolutely bossed the entire Poruguese league for 3 seasons: it takes some serious cojones to do that, regardless of ability.

Lo Celso, on the other hand, is just a marvelous player. Technical, hard working, with vision and commitment but not quite that same level of leadership. I think we are truly lucky to have him and at best he'll be a club legend, and at worst he'll earn us a shitload of money. But he just doesn't have that same leadership value that Bruno brings to a team.

I think if we'd brought in Lo Celso and Bruno, rather than Lo Celso and Ndombele, we'd be right up there competing for 3rd right now. I love Ndombele for his ability, but our team needed that leadership and full blooded commitment in those shaky late-Poch times.
