The Dembele replacement we've been looking for - although he's not quite as strong as Moussa was his range of passing is better so he has potentially an even higher ceiling.

Now we just need the Eriksen replacement to complete the midfield!

A very classy player. I want to see more a goal threat from him now though (and better corners!). If we could have a fast, strong, powerful DM next to him we would really be a tough proposition to beat

I love that little flick he did over the attacker and the burst of speed to get away from him, very Modric-esqe.

With everything in consideration, that was a superb performance last night.

We've got ourselves a gem.

He created more chances yesterday than usual which was my only gripe towards him thus far.

Could've easily had 2 assists (the Kane shot and Son's offside goal) and both were lovely lay offs - some brilliant footwork prior to the Son one in particular.

For a CM to be creating chances like that is bloody impressive - especially compared to the creative output of our other CMs in recent years.

Dembele, for all his genius, would be lucky to get 2 assists in an entire season.

People were talking about redknapp in the match thread.

How Lo can you go?
Anyway, if there were shots to be taken at a pundit after that game, Jamie Redknapp heads that queue.

Few were completely convinced by Tottenham’s midfield when their team to face West Ham was announced, but Redknapp’s pre-match assessment went a little further.

“I’m not a big fan of that midfield he’s picked today, if I’m honest. Harry Winks, I thought, did ever so well against Manchester United, and I look at that midfield and especially the way Tottenham play, you’ve got to have possession of the ball.
“He’s gone with Sissoko, who I imagine will be the deepest out of the three, Lo Celso and then Dele Alli will be trying to get close to Harry Kane. They’re not great on the ball in terms of… like, Lo Celso will pick it up and run with it, but the emphasis on Sissoko to get on the half-turn and play it forward quickly, that’s not really his game. You know, he’s good at getting after people.
“I look at West Ham’s midfield today, with Noble and Rice and Soucek, they might actually have more footballers in that team that can keep the ball. If they can find some possession they might get a bit of joy in that area.
“But I think that Winks is, especially on Friday, the way that he plays, you need someone in that Tottenham team to just take the sting out of the game, pass the ball, move. And that’s what he does so well. In that three they haven’t really got that type of player.”

In Tottenham’s eventual win over West Ham…

1) No player created more chances than Lo Celso, whose three key passes was more than what Noble, Rice and Soucek managed combined (two).

2) Sissoko also created three chances despite only being “good at getting after people” and not being able to “play it forward quickly”.

3) Lo Celso completed the most passes of any player (85) despite being “not great on the ball” in terms of passing.

4) Lo Celso misplaced just 11 of his 96 passes (11.5%), compared to Rice misplacing six of his 38 (15.8%), Noble seven of his 30 (23.3%) and Soucek 12 of his 33 (26.4%).

5) Lo Celso might not be homegrown, nor was he born in Hemel Hempstead, but he really is quite good. And it turns out he actually can be “that type of player” when the circumstances require it.

Haha - I said exactly the same when he spouted that bollocks about our midfield pre-match. What a load of tripe! There was so much bitterness in that studio last night. Zamora still bitter about the fact that he was utter shite for us before finding his lowly level yo-yo ing between the Prem and the championship. Redknapp still bitter about the way his old man was treated after flashing his undies to the FA for the England job for months (despite the fact that we stood by him throughout his trial for tax evasion).
Anyway, fuck ‘em. Anyone giving Roy Keane air time clearly needs a lobotomy - even his own Mother hates him!

If he gets injured we are fucked (even more than usual).

It was the same with Eriksen. Everything we did went through him. When he played badly, we played badly. There is no coincidence that our slide coincided with Eriksens desire to leave.

We signed two midfielders with the desire to alleviate this decision but didn't sign the DM to make that system work amongst Ndombele fitness issues.

That’s what’s so frustrating about this all. I think our downfall under Poch was squad depth and that we didn’t have a second creator in our starting lineup.

Yep and having you quote my post yet again shows that I can't multitask when attempting to string a sentence together and I'm losing coherence by the minute.

I'm starting to love this guy. Really finding his feet at CM.

We should not forget how awesome Dembele was though. It's ok to appreciate GLC without being critical of Mousa's output. Different types of player.

Love Lo Celso. Just like we ran through Eriksen, we run through Lo Celso. This time, we will need to sign cover/competition for him. Something we failed to do with Eriksen which cost us.
