Where was this furore when Capoue and Robertson targeted Tangana for horrendous tackles? They can get away with bullying a young player making his debut/early in his career?

Or that horrible Harry Maguire tackle the other day?

But yeah, this one involves a Spurs player on the wrong side of the tackle. Time for everyone to lose their shit.

It was clearly accidental. Watch it as it happens, and not in the super slow mo that Sky seems to think we live in. Immediately after he's gone over him, he's spun down to check if he's ok and apologise. I think it was the right call.

He's from Argentina. That's how they play. See Lamela.

It's about time we had some aggression in midfield again. Fuck Chelsea.

We have had plenty of aggression on the field for a few seasons, hasn’t really helped us much tbh. Usually causes us stupid free kicks or web completely loose our shit.

We need to judge each incident in isolation and for this one we were lucky

We were unlucky when Son got sent off twice.

Unlucky Sterling didnt get sent off

Gio had the ball, and had nowhere else to put his foot down. It wasn't aggressive or out of control so I think a red would be harsh even though it looks bad in slo-mo.

Sterling, Capoue, Mount, Robertson

All studs up over the ball on Spurs players with no red cards - but weirdly I don't remember the media campaign.

Studs up, over the ball, aggressive challenges on a player with the ball. Nothing.

Gio, has the ball, putting his foot down to shield the ball, lands on the opposition player, unintentional. Media outrage.

That's the conclusion I came to when they said no red card. He wasn't making a tackle as such so it wasn't that, and it did look like he had nowhere else to go. It would have been an unfortunate red but its still a red card.

Lucky it wasn't given, but considering some of the ones we've had against us, I'll take it

VAR admitting it made a mistake was a joke, really. That hasn't happened once as far as I know, and there've been a fair few bollocks-ups. Just appeasing the Chelsea twats after they've been crying their eyes out about Maguire's challenge. Spineless and embarrassing look from VAR.

Even more embarrassing is some of our more weasel-y fans acting horrified by it. Virtue signalling bollocks, fuck off.

If Gio got his foot down first it would have been a horror tackle from Azpilecueta. Fine margins and slo mo make it look horrendous.

The issue why this is getting more attention that than the other incidents is not because it's Spurs, it is because VAR gave a poor reason at the time and to boot then said as much afterwards.

With the other mistakes (Maguire, Sterling) VAR stayed quiet on the issue and most certainly didn't apologise afterwards.

This just goes to show how poor VAR is for us right now, not because the system is flawed per say, but because our officials are bloody terrible! I would much rather watch CL football because even though referees are harsher with what consitutes a foul, they are by and large much more consistent.

For me Sterling should have been off, Maguire also and GLC too.

But it was a red card and he went to do him, why are people having a hard time admitting that, it was so obvious at the time - he was frustrated and lashed out.

Saying Gio shouldnt change a thing is stupid as he was guilty
How was he guilty as he was found innocent of a red. To say this is equivalent to double jeopardy. Cannot understand why the ref at VAR changed his mind ! Glad we have someone who wants to challenge for the ball.

But it WASN'T a red card. I think that the guy at VAR caved in once others started laying in to him. Lo Celso tried to avoid him , if you look he only puts the front of his foot down as there was nowhere to plant his foot.

What do you mean it wasn't a red card?, it was a red card offence hence VAR later admitting that they got it wrong?

That excuse is a bit weak he put his foot down with force, he knew exactly what he was doing especially since he lashed out at Azpilecueta in the 1st half - he was frustrated.

Facts are facts. He was NOT given a red card. The rest is hot air. If everyone is so sure that he did this intentionally then why is there no actions from the FA ? The answer is that no-one will ever know unless Lo Celso writes a book. Why are Spurs fans so keen to accuse him when he was found innocent, and before you reply, the fact exists that the ref did not look at the monitor because he didn't see it as a red and neither did VARman until pressure started on his original, and correct, decision.
