Ironically, it looks like the dreaded diamond could be the right formation for us. The difference is that with Ndombele and LoCelso we have 2 CMs who are crisp passers and can also bring the ball forward effectively. The Poch diamond was such a dull affair with no cut which only served to get the ball to Eriksen. We have some much better creative options from deeper now.

I think the bigger problem is that overall the team didn't work hard enough to press leaving the side midfielders to cover too much ground - that was certainly the case when we got tonked by Bayern.

Can't remember what formation we played v Bayern tbh. I know that the Poch diamond always seemed very narrow which left the flanks exposed.

Levy must be speculating with the money he has available to sign other players now.
It won't happen, but maybe if we pay for GLC now, we can't get Bale. It won't be Bale, but it could be Piatek or whoever we want to sign.

He definitely looks miles better central, also surprised how well he coped in a CM 2, I really thought he was more of a AM and heard he struggled CM for PSG, he looks to have everything and dictated the play like Modric used to to for us but with a bit more skill about him, very excited by this kid.

Out of the loop - is there some reason its advantageous to us to sign him in January vs at the end of the season?

Agree with every word here

So there’s a time to be prudent and a time to be self-aware. There's also a time just to pay up. Nothing that Spurs have done over the past five years now entitles them to a quiet life inside the top four. If they want that kind of permanence, then they must grasp these chances while they’re available.

Lo Celso is a rare player and this deal should have been completed yesterday.

There's no position more important to Tottenham than Giovani Lo Celso's – so why haven't they made his loan permanent yet?

He seemed to take up a DM role at PSG in the end, which is why i think he struggled, CM or AM centrally are where he would shine massively. Solid DM with him and Ndombele in the middle would be a dream for me next season.

@Rob why has the match thread been locked, some of us are dependant on that mayhem, to keep us up to date with the ebbs and flows of the match.
If we're able to filter out the bullshit!

EDIT - Forget about it, it's open again now.
Panic over

Levy will pay up one minute before the early purchase discount expires. What if he pays up now and Lo Celso breaks his legs the next day? Doing it at the last minute is a risk thing

Going to be a deadline day headline for us. Feel like that's obvious. So when the fans are undoubtedly let down with actual additions, we can throw a silver lining on the day by announcing Lo Celso as permanent.

What's the rush? He isn't going anywhere.
