So we basically will buy him whatever the circumstances and there's no chance of him leaving? ? ?

The deal was set up as a loan so that Betis didn't have to pay a lump to PSG out of it. As far as I'm aware, Lo Celso is effectively our player.

Mourinho has made it abundantly clear that Dele owns the number 10 spot. Lo Celso is going to have to usurp Moura on the right, challenge Ndombele in the CM role or rotate occasionally with Dele. If we do sign Fernandes, I’d be surprised if we keep him. This doesn’t mean I don’t value him, but how the fuck is he going to get meaningful game time?

Perhaps his value will come against park the bus teams as he is quick, clever and very good in small spaces. That may be where he takes time from Dele as Dele seems to me to be better in open space and tends to hold on the ball when he gets wide without space. To your point, he'll probably take game time from Moura under normal conditions but i'm not sure how much since Jose does not rotate as much as Mauricio.

What Mourinho does tactically will be very interesting. We have already seen Alli back to getting goals now he is playing further forward.

We have seen that in a 4231 with Son and Moura join Alli behind Kane. Against Bournemouth we have seen him play a 433 with Son and Alli behind Kane.

Lo Celso seems perfect to play alongside Ndombele and a DM in a 433 but I would also like to see us play the 4231 at times as I think in the right situation Son, Alli, Kane and Moura could be lethal.

If Jose gets us performing in the cups there'll be plenty of playing time for a number of players anyway.

I don’t know why but I’ve a feeling he will go the same way as Mata did under Mourinho at Chelsea.

Lo Celso is not "quick". And that's why he shouldn't play RAM for us. I don't see where he fits in at the moment unfortunately. Not ideal when we're going to pay £55m for him or what was it.

Given that we're likely to see Wanyama, Eriksen and potentially Lamela leave over the next 8 months, I think there will be plenty of opportunities for him to get in the squad. I certainly hope so.

Criminal if that happens. I see GLC as more of a CM than an AM, and I don't think Mourinho really likes the traditional 10 type player. He relied on Lampard for goals at Chelsea and probably expected the same from Pogba at Utd.. He didn't waste any time binning Mkhitaryan from Utd either and never really gave Mata too much of a shot at either Chelsea or Utd. Hoping GLC gets his chance in CM.

For me I think some of the issue is that because of our lack of activity in the transfer market, I was overly excited about the prospect of any player. Even more so a regular for Argentina. I was even more excited when I watched his La Liga YouTube clips (which obviously only show good things)

Personally I don't think there is currently a place in the starting 11 for him, especially given how José likes to set up tactically. He needs to work hard in training and show José what he can do.

If it is he gets his chances and takes them then great. If we're winning games of football and he's not starting, which has been the case for José's first 3 games, then as happy as I was that he'd joined I don't really care if he's not starting.

Its about the team and if we have turned a corner with results then I certainly won't lose sleep about GLC not getting game time.

José has fucked up previously like with KDB, but I trust his judgement on the best players to fit our system

Its been 3 matches chill.. he will get plenty of time over Christmas. Eriksen will play minimal now it’s clear he wants to go, Lamela injured, so our ATT is currently Kane Son lucas Dele Lo Celso and Sissoko/Sess if required.. he’s been injured for 6 weeks went away on international duty. Can’t really afford for a reoccurrence of injury coming up to Christmas period. Everyone’s been so critical of not having depth now we finally have it people worry about game time!!!

Players like Gio don't come along very often - and when they do, they rarely end up at Spurs. The guy is pure talent, and I'd like to see him given a proper chance to show his pedigree either at CM or AM, for which he has produced similar stats. If Ndombele is out, he should be starting in his place.

If we return him to Betis, then more fool us.

Others have said it, but I'd say the positions where he would be most effective are:

1) in a 3 man midfield, alongside a specific DM
2) as one of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1, likely on the right or in the middle

We don't seem to be playing (1) very often, and were we to, he'd be competing with Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Eriksen etc., who are all a mixture of (arguably) a bit further up the curve in terms of Prem experience, strength (which Mou likes) or perceived abilities.

In the case of (2), he's competing with Sissoko, Moura, Lamela really. Frankly, with the right exposure and effort, I think he could do as good, if not better a job than any of them. He's skillful, works hard and is a better passer than any of them. He's obviously very different, but not in a bad way.

I can't help thinking that there's a gem of a player in there. I hope he gets the chance to prove himself

€32m in this day and age is a no brainer imo

Jose in the press conference:

Jose on Juan Foyth
"There are other players that I like very, very much and I try to give some stability to the team and there is no space for everyone, so we look to other boys. Ryan Sessegnon, Lo Celso, Walker-Peters, we have other players with potential to play that they didn’t have yet the opportunity to play. I would say let’s wait for the end of December for the accumulation of matches and for sure opportunities will come."

Sissoko has had quite a bit of playing time under Poch and under Jose. With time, GLC will probably be getting Sissoko’s playing time and possibly also bite into some of Moura’s playing time.

€32 million is an absolute steal for a player of Lo Celso's quality.

I'd have to seriously question the judgement and scouting ability of our management team if they don't sign him permanently.

Fantastic technical ability and vision, aligned with good work rate. Absolute travesty if we don't sign him permanently and start playing him more.

That's all i can keep thinking. Hopefully, we're all just speculating while the club knows exactly when they want to make it permanent. It could be that we hold onto the cash in Jan to prioritise other buys and pay slightly more come the summer. Either way, i sincerely hope we take him. He's clearly quality and if you can't fit that into the squad then there's something very wrong.
