I don’t know how anyone could watch that press conference and think that Poch is happy with the current transfer situation. He is petty much saying that any responsibility he had for transfers is no longer there. He appears to have washed his hands completely of any transfer involvement and that cannot be a healthy thing. If we don’t sign one or two more players in the window then if Real think he is a better bet than Zidane he will jump at it this time.
I didn't see it that way. He just seemed pissed at the journos to me and was giving the comment re his job to wind up the journo. Just like the answer to the Lamella question. Onions. I may well be wrong and just saw what fits my mood (which is pretty good as Mrs Messy tells me she's got the horn!)

I get where you are coming from. However it is beyond the bounds of belief that Poch with all he has done and all that he means to the club is not the driving force behind the targets we are after.
I would hazard a guess he is the most influential figure for our transfer business in terms of identifying who and what he wants.

Now getting it done is another matter as there are so many factors involved and Levy over his tenure at the club has proven time and time again that he likes to squeeze every ounce of money out of a deal. This has often been to his detriment and has left a lot of people disliking him regardless of the new Stadium or training ground or other legacy projects.

It was widely quoted here that last seasons transfer window where we signed no-one was as much down to Poch as anything else. I think his annoyance at present is just getting asked the same question over and over again at press conferences when the situation has not changed so he has nothing new to say.

Yes but now it seems that Poch is fed up with Levy trying to squeeze every ounce out of every potential deal. He has said several times that the club has to operate in a different way going forward and it seemed like that was changing with the signing of Ndombele. But the leopard has not changed his spots . I agree that it’s unlikely that Levy would be able to identify targets like GLC without asking Poch but I can only think that he is not amused and appears almost disillusioned that the haggling never changes.

Just the very fact that Poch will not answer one single question about transfers sets the alarm bells ringing. He is being asked perfectly normal questions about incoming and outgoing players. Instead of saying that he won’t comment on transfers until they happen he is persisting with this line of “ don’t ask me, I am not in charge, I am no longer the manager just a coach. Ask the club “ Is he not a key part of the club ? Clearly he doesn’t think so.

#BackPoch trending on Twitter, hopefully we get the same outcome like the goons did with there twitter protest lmao, I somehow doubt Levy gives a toss tbh tho, he did say himself “he doesn’t feel the pressure” in regards to transfers.

On a side note what’s the highest amount of pages a player has without signing on this site ?

That's coz Levy is fucking ice cold when it comes to business

It's there in black and white, yet some will still refuse to see it, the stuff about his job title was very odd to say the least.

Posted in the ITK thread, but Blaino on FTL has just said...

Followed by

He's the third ITK to say that Betis have altered the price after everything was agreed.

Bringing this back to GLC, or any other player.

Any reasonable chairman would do the following in our current circumstances, where we are desperate for a player to fill a position;

a) negotiate the best price possible. If that means we pay more than we want, fine, make cuts in the cloth in other less pressured areas/players.
or,
b) pursue a more reasonably priced alternative as above and make sure you get him.

What you don’t do is nothing as we did three times. The problem rarely goes away and simply means you need to spend more the next TW as the situation gets desperate and find out prices have gone up.

Try driving past 15 petrol stations because you think the price is too high and see what happens.......:cautious:

I agree with some of that, but I don't think it's quite that simple:

a) Apparently we did agree a fee and Betis have now put the price up. Do we now walk on a player the manager wants? Or try and get back to an agreeable price as we've done twice before?
b) But what if the manager only wants option A because option B/C/D isn't good enough? Last year we probably could have signed a central midfielder but we probably wouldn't have signed anyone as good as Ndombele and we probably wouldn't have had the money to go for him this summer.

And where are we? Do you want us to be happy to be in CL just like arse. They did won FA cups though. We are making profits for last few seasons now and we can'T use this excuse of not doing leeds thing.

To be fair the zero net spend thing made a lot of sense while the cost of planning and building the stadium was an on-going concern. Now that we've moved in we should see some real investment in the playing squad. If we don't then I think we can start to really wonder about our ambition.

I am in that optimistic place. There were a lot of us but the numbers are dwindling. I hope when we make these signings there will still be some left to high five with me!

We are all talking about what Poch said or how he said it, classic deflection.

The topic of Bale is clouded! Not even discussed!

(Piscean so explains the daydreaming. And so not for this thread however as all piling in)

If you actually watch the press conference, he never at any point appeared to be "fuming." He looked slightly peeved at transfer questions because he answered all the same ones on the Asia tour. Other than that, it seemed like normal Poch, smiling and joking with the media. I think this has all been blown WAY out of proportion.

Get the fuck out of here with that rational thought process. No place for it! Totally uncalled for. Levys a ****!

This is sarcasm.

He’s not though is he? He’s trying to distance himself from being asked about transfers. It won’t be spun that way but watching the press conference (it’s in the match thread where this talk should probably go now) and you can tell his English is holding him back. That’s how I view it anyway. His back is up with the first question being about Rose’s future and he doesn’t calm down for the rest of the interview. Honestly I don’t think it’s. Worry but it depends on how full your glass is (and mine isn’t usually that full) and I’m not concerned.

If we go on and sign lo celso in the next week then he’s hardly going to come out and say he wasn’t involved. He just doesn’t want to be asked about transfers. I hope we get him more than ever now.

The thing that worries me is Hercs layest post in the ITK thread. It is almost a carbon copy of what he posted near the end of the last 2 windows when it all fell apart.

Yep , its only been briefly touched on in here but the club have a long history of managing expectations via ITK . They are easily capable of generating ITK that everything not happening is other clubs fault... and we are just unlucky .

Whether Poch will swallow this remains to be seen .

Never thought for one minute the Dybala thread had any legs. But GLC is entirely Levy up to his usual shit. It’s the same every window. Don’t need any further evidence of that other than Poch’s reaction tonight. Was the same last summer with his reaction then. Poch is effectively saying he’s being thrown under a bus again. The tease this year was NDombele to be followed with the selling of players so our small squad is worked to the bone.
So you know the ITK is that we’ve agreed a price with Betis, but then they raised it again. Twice. How is that Levy up to his usual shit? It sounds much more like Betis up to Levy’s usual shit.
