Well yes, exactly. So not sure why so many people are getting worried by this latest report from the Spanish media

Because we seem no closer and we are running out haha I’m optimistic and I think we’re currently fortunate there doesn’t seem to be any other bidding clubs causing the bidding war betis want

Its worth having a look at the full interview video. He seemed to me to be getting the hump with the journos asking the same transfer questions repeatedly and then replies to the final question that they need to ask the club about the current status (which is right because he isn't doing the negotiating).
In each case the quotes are taking his answers to cutely worded questions and twisting them...
Shite journos in word twisting shocker!

Could be but I definitely heard him say `today I feel like a coach'...which I thought a bit odd and came across as a veiled dig...could be wrong.

When Poch's title was changed from head coach to manager it was specifically because he was supposedly being given broader responsibilities, including over transfers.

I don't see how one could interpret him saying that his title is a misnomer and "coach" would be more accurate as anything other than an expression of dissatisfaction over how much (or how little) influence he has over our transfer business.

The world record profit posted in 17/18 was largely a product of Poch's accomplishments in the league and CL and the fact that he was completely and utterly left begging in the transfer market. He then followed it up with a CL campaign that netted €100m. The money is there to be spent, and he has more than earned the club's backing. It's genuinely shocking that we find ourselves yet again in the position of Poch subtly denouncing the transfer setup with so little time remaining. If he's dissatisfied after window closes I'll be absolutely fuming.

Yeah they may well be and I agree that he can be a prickly character at times, love him to bits but he does get his knickers in a twist sometimes...My personal opinion is its transfer related, but look it is what it is...we will be fine I reckon.
I think he is not the only one frustrated by the transfer window, IMO, I’m fed up with waiting around for 2 players to be signed. Still time though so hopefully the frustration is ended soon. ??

For me it’s a good thing. One wrong comment and it could fuck negotiations. It’s a clever move from him. Especially in regards to this one where they are apparently playing silly buggers.

To be honest, Poch could come out after the game and say “Lo Celso is the player I’ve wanted all summer to the degree I’d spaff over his mum’s chops to illustrate my desire to have him in the squad” and Levy would drop the offer by €3m because that’s what we seemingly do.

Levy must literally get hard over the glory days of Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha and how cost friendly that shizzle was ?

If you actually watch the press conference, he never at any point appeared to be "fuming." He looked slightly peeved at transfer questions because he answered all the same ones on the Asia tour. Other than that, it seemed like normal Poch, smiling and joking with the media. I think this has all been blown WAY out of proportion.

100% spot on. This is exactly what I was saying. Everything has been blown way out of proportion. Until the window is over, have some faith in Levy. He's well aware of the consequences if he pisses Poch off. He knows the best thing ENIC's investment in the club is to keep Poch.

I’m choosing to believe TLOT since his blistering emergence on SC a few weeks ago, coinciding with us signing Ndombele. Proper voodoo power and shit

just seen this posted in the daily thread

I can't remember @dovahkiin if we've been posting Blaino on FTL's stuff here, but he's just said...

Twice agreed a fee re Lo Celso, twice RB have moved the goalposts. They're very much playing silly buggers.

In terms of players out, we can't physically kick them out the door and at the moment nobody wants players on the decline and those players want to be at top clubs.

Sessegnon - lord knows what's going on with that now. He'd said his goodbyes etc.

Followed by
They need to sell as they admit and our deadline is in 9 days and their player has agreed to sign for us. What’s the issue. It’s their problem now. We had a deal.

Yeah also true, but since he's been on holiday he wouldn't have been able to join until today. Might go until the wire but could still be resolved quite quickly I suppose

Never thought for one minute the Dybala thread had any legs. But GLC is entirely Levy up to his usual shit. It’s the same every window. Don’t need any further evidence of that other than Poch’s reaction tonight. Was the same last summer with his reaction then. Poch is effectively saying he’s being thrown under a bus again. The tease this year was NDombele to be followed with the selling of players so our small squad is worked to the bone.

Understand what you are saying, but if you are refrring to Pochs comments in the post Real match interview, he really didnt seem to me to be upset with anyone apart from the journos. He was really just toying with them after the opening question repeated the same transfer related questions. Take a look and maybe you have a different take on it. Onions.

I see your point, but I think the whole 3rd and 4th choice options being Championship standard is blown a bit out of proportion.

The reality is we had players in the squad from last season that can easily be improved upon. Dier, Wanyama, Trippier, Aurier, Llorente, Janssen, GKN.

There's plenty of footballers out there who are far better than those that we have, even if they aren't top of the list.

I understand the sentiment but I just don’t think it’s right in anyway.

Look at your list:

Dier was a really effective DM who forged a great partnership with Dembele and provided tactical flexibility. He only fell out of the first team because we brought in Wanyama.

Wanyama was fantastic until he picked up an injury. This meant that he was hard to sell and perhaps was worth keeping around as a bit player of if he recovered sufficiently.

Trippier fought his way into the first team and England team. He had a great World Cup and then one quite poor season whereupon we sold him.

Aurier was a pretty expensive signing from PSG. A bit peculiar. But when he signed people thought he’d be great... may still come good.

We signed Llorente ahead of Chelsea iirc. Could have done better but at the time a logical signing. A short term option so replacing him is always on the cards.

Jansson was Not even in the squad for most of his tenure and we couldn’t shift him.

Similarly GKN was making up numbers.

If we had persisted with these players for 5 years, whilst they played at last season’s levels, then you’d have a point. But as it is it seems like you’re demanding an unfeasible level of hindsight and player turnover.

Right.....in the interest of reclaiming this, and other, player threads for the players in question I suggest....we compose a strongly worded letter, in conjunction with our fellow Spurs fan sites, expressing our collective disappointment at the way this transfer window is progressing. Once Levy hears of this collective distress we should see GLC, Ryan Ressegnon and Dybala quickly ushered through the in-door. Whose up for it. ?

#BackPoch trending on Twitter, hopefully we get the same outcome like the goons did with there twitter protest lmao, I somehow doubt Levy gives a toss tbh tho, he did say himself “he doesn’t feel the pressure” in regards to transfers.

On a side note what’s the highest amount of pages a player has without signing on this site ?

Spot on. We really need a proper director of football. We're essentially a smaller version of Man United. Levy is great at finding commercial opportunities and thrives in that environment - the footballing side, however, is just way under par. Constantly looking for "deals", as if that is some sort of strategy, long outdrawn negotiations to pinch pennies which more often than not end up in utter failure, horrible timing (knowing when the club should grasp an opportunity and go for it, much like Liverpool) and most importantly shit decision making when it comes to actually pulling the trigger for players. That, of course, is not all on Levy, but he's responsible in the end.

Lo Celso is just part of this bigger picture. A deal seemingly destined for months, now quickly reaching the decisive moment without an agreement even close. Seen the same exact shit just last summer with Grealish. Embarrassing

I don’t know how anyone could watch that press conference and think that Poch is happy with the current transfer situation. He is petty much saying that any responsibility he had for transfers is no longer there. He appears to have washed his hands completely of any transfer involvement and that cannot be a healthy thing. If we don’t sign one or two more players in the window then if Real think he is a better bet than Zidane he will jump at it this time.

Yet loads of people have watched it and come out with about a billion different interpretations.

As I said elsewhere, people see what they want to see, read tone in to words twisted by how they are feeling.

It’s so subjective all of it.

It’s quite draining.

Not sure what all the fuss is about! We signed no one for last 2 TW. Not sure why this has not managed expectations.

I get where you are coming from. However it is beyond the bounds of belief that Poch with all he has done and all that he means to the club is not the driving force behind the targets we are after.
I would hazard a guess he is the most influential figure for our transfer business in terms of identifying who and what he wants.

Now getting it done is another matter as there are so many factors involved and Levy over his tenure at the club has proven time and time again that he likes to squeeze every ounce of money out of a deal. This has often been to his detriment and has left a lot of people disliking him regardless of the new Stadium or training ground or other legacy projects.

It was widely quoted here that last seasons transfer window where we signed no-one was as much down to Poch as anything else. I think his annoyance at present is just getting asked the same question over and over again at press conferences when the situation has not changed so he has nothing new to say.
