I do love it when people fill threads with their ideal teams with a load of player we haven’t even got info on. #SpunkTrumpetry

Maybe I don’t know how to read this charts but it had Eriksen as streets ahead for Dribbling. The vids I’ve seen of LoCo is that he’s a proper dribbler. Am I reading the chart wrong?

Your reading the chart wrong, Lo Celso is the green matrix and he is miles ahead in dribbles and progressive runs.

I think most would be surprised if we don’t get him at this point.

Both offer depth which I think is required for a Lo Celso type player more than an Eriksen.

If GLC picks up an injury a midfield of Ceballos, Son, Dele with Lucas or Lamela in the wings looks far better than seeing us have to line up with too many speed marchants with one track minds.

We were already very thin last season with no competition for Eriksen or Dele which possibly made them more fatigued and comfortable than a big club should see its stars so a like for like with GLC and Eriksen for me doesn't give Poch the depth he requires andnstrives for.

Ceballos can offer CM options, AM options and offers a little bit of a few players as you've mentioned. I think he'd be a sensible player to add quality and depth if a deal can be had but it shouldn't be either Ceballos or Lo Celso, I think realistically we need both.
IMO this has been our one biggest weakness in the past few seasons. Since we lost our flying fullbacks, we've had to rely almost exclusively on Eriksen for creativity. Dembele gave us control and created space, which helped massively, but he was such a conservative passer of the ball, putting even more emphasis on Eriksen to provide.

With Ndombele we've already upgraded on Dembele in this regard - he can beat a man but is also comfortable passing forward quickly and taking risks. If we add Lo Celso and/or Ceballos into the equation we have a few players who can each fulfil some part of the 'Eriksen role' - with added tenacity, physicality and dribbling to boot.

We'll miss Eriksen's long range strikes, his vision and his composure, but at least we won't be relying on him game in, game out.

difficult to judge anyone from a tournament, especially the copa where most of the play is done on the floor rolling around anyway. the fact he dominated madrid at the bernabeu in their 2-0 win last season is enough for me.

If my memory serves me correctly, this was one of the outlets that broke the Lo Celso news and is probably more reliable:

Tottenham, unhurried by Lo Celso
Tottenham wants Giovani Lo Celso. Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentine coach who has conquered the Spurs, has chosen the attacker of Betis to strengthen his team for next year, although the English club slow cooker his signing.

After the first great approach by the Argentine, revealed by this newspaper , the English team recently negotiated again with the leaders of Verdiblancos, even when they were closing the addition of Tanguy Ndombele, the midfielder for which they have paid Lyon 60 million euros plus another ten, at most, in bonus. And Tottenham, for now, does not want to reach those figures by Lo Celso, hence the agreement with Betis is not easy.

The leaders of Verdiblancos assessed Lo Celso in 75 million euros, a very high amount that would leave another great surplus value in the Betic coffers. Betis exercised the purchase option for the Argentine, estimated at 22 million euros, which added to the three paid for its assignment. But in the case of a transfer, the PSG reserved 20% of a surplus value, while both Lo Celso himself would also receive a quantity of it.

After finishing his participation in the Copa América on Saturday, where Argentina finished third, Lo Celso has already started his holidays, although he is still on the phone. Pochettino has already made clear the interest in having their services , beyond that they are also negotiating with Dani Ceballos, in two totally independent operations. The economic power of Tottenham is on the table and the figures that are handled in England would almost triple what Lo Celso perceives in Betis. The English market closes on August 8, practically when the Argentinian will start the preseason work, and what happens with his future points to one of the summer soap operas.

The thing that stands out most about Lo Celso in his YT vids is his ball carrying ability.

It's pretty clear that Poch sees this as a crucial element in the way we're going to play next season. With NDombele and Lo Celso on the pitch (and to a lesser extent Sissoko), you've got midfield players who can drive forward with the ball and put the opposition on the back-foot.

Throw in our forwards Son and Lucas and you've really got a team that can scare the opposition by flying directly at them.

I also like the idea of Winks being involved too because although he's not as 'direct' as the others, he's got the talent to recycle the ball and maintain possession.

Personally, I'd love to see this midfield/attack next season:

--------------Kane---------------
Alli----------------------------Son
---Lo Celso---NDombele---
------------Winks--------------

Back-ups include Sissoko, Moura, Lamella and possibly Cellabos, among others

Might be some question marks over Winks in that position, but we can also change it up with the abundance of talent we would have in the squad, if it doesn't work out

Looks like a pretty balanced and reasonable report. Doesn't sound close to resolution but hopefully they are a bit behind. Would make sense for us to push hard this week, as long as the funds are available (and not subject to Eriksen's move to RM).
