I completely agree, I’m just saying the stories of us dropping the deal seem like bullshit

Hercs did mention yday i believe, regarding playing poker with the master that is DL, i think this is what he meant, doesnt mean weve walked away or scraped the deal, like Sky are reporting.

I reckon this one requires GLC and his people to push this one in the right direction to get this over the line...

Especially with signing TN, the need is lessened and further still If Ceballos happens too! If GLC comes I imagine it’s bye bye to Eriksen, as Ceballos will be in as well...

I’m quite happy to let this ride out, get Ceballos on a loan, Sess for 20-30 wrapped up, and maybe some feelers on a RB, then we can go back in for GLC after he has rested from the Copa America, where we can force through a move!

Other than deadline day you never hear the media say that talks are "OFF". Like any deal that doesn’t happen it would just go quiet and maybe a journalist will respond to others and say it’s not happening. Most likely one of the clubs (Spurs probably) wants to send a message

I’m not saying Celso should be worth more than NDombele but as a rule players that score goals and assist tend to command higher transfer fees than players who don’t.

Also, it’s not like we are signing the finished article in N’Dombele, he’s had 2 seasons of top tier football compared to Celsos 1 so considering the fact he’s banging in goals and assisting I totally get why Betis are asking for a similar fee.

Again, I’m not saying he should be worth more as, tbh, I know fuck all about either player, other than the obligatory YouTube vids, and I get that N’Dombele is one of most highly rated midfielders about but I don’t think £50m-£60m for him in this market is ridiculous.
Watching him I'm the Copa America he is not a £80m player yet seems to have big potential though

Watching Messi in the Copa America, would you say he is one of the best players to have ever played the game?
He's not worth the cash they are asking for him, full stop.

We will go back on LoCelso, if we have decided that he is the target. This news in Sky is also probably a intentional leak from club to put pressure on Betis/Lo Celso.

I have seen few of the games of Argentina this Copa America. Agree that Lo Celso has not been that good - but then its true for their entire attack whether its Messi or Aguero. Problem for ARG is their Central midfield & defense. Believe it or not, Foyth has improved them in RB in last couple of games but still their build up from defense to midfield sucks. No wonder creative players are struggling too.

Average Copa America for Lo Celso is good for us. It should reduce Betis asking price by few millions and keep them grounded. Now its up to the player on pressurizing Betis to let him leave.

When are people going to understand that it's not how good a player is that sets the price but what the player is worth to the selling club?

Lo Celso has a 25% sell on clause to PSG which instantly makes him more expensive and he's so good and invaluable to Betis that it's almost impossible for them to replace him like for like. No matter who comes in instead of GLC will be a step down for them and thus they want a big pay day to make sure that they can sufficiently strengthen other areas of the team as well so they can keep moving upwards.

I can definitely understand why they are demanding 88m in todays market.

They can demand 88m but there's no way Betis will get that money for him

The reason they are demanding 88m is because they don't want, need or have to sell him. The only way for him to leave is for someone to pay up for them to be satisfied.

No one is paying that cash for him. He's good, he's not 88 mill good.

Their net spend now is 30m, they want to buy Iglesias for 28m and someone else if i remember correctly. Betis isn't big club in financial terms and will need to sell someone. Maybe it will be Firpo not GLC

Where did you get their net spend, because I'm pretty confident you're taking into account the signing of Lo Celso into that figure.

There haven't been many suggestions that Betis are adamant to keep him IIRC. I think they expected to sell him for a big profit this window and use the money on 2-3 players.

Think there was something about his wages going through the roof now he's on a permanent too.

I think it's slightly different to say Zaha where I fully understand why Palace want stupid money.

Yep, they just sold Wan-Bissaka and are playing in Premier League so i completely unterstand why they want so much. And Betis yearly budget is 100m

So you're saying they have a problem with their netspend of 30 million because they signed Lo Celso and the solution is to sell Lo Celso?

I'm saying that they can't afford Lo Celso, Iglesias for 28m and someone else. They will have to sell GLC or Firpo
