I’m not saying Celso should be worth more than NDombele but as a rule players that score goals and assist tend to command higher transfer fees than players who don’t.

Also, it’s not like we are signing the finished article in N’Dombele, he’s had 2 seasons of top tier football compared to Celsos 1 so considering the fact he’s banging in goals and assisting I totally get why Betis are asking for a similar fee.

Again, I’m not saying he should be worth more as, tbh, I know fuck all about either player, other than the obligatory YouTube vids, and I get that N’Dombele is one of most highly rated midfielders about but I don’t think £50m-£60m for him in this market is ridiculous.

It’s amazing how much these players cost with only a season or two of football under their belts. Sometimes I wonder if it smacks of teams wanting shiny new toys rather than tried and tested players.

They want about 10m more than we paid for ND! Not gonna happen at test price. But I am positive about this deal. But you know the end part is my opinion.
The cheeky buggers !, no way we should pay that much for him, this one could go down to the wire....

As with NDombele, the hard part is getting the player to want to come to your club. And it seems like a lot of top players are finally actually WANTING to come to Spurs (rather than having to accept a move to Spurs as a bigger club hasn't come in for them). That gives us massive leverage, which we saw with the eventual price of Tanguy. It feels bloody weird to be in this position but we are one of the big boys now.

They will drop their price as they will have to. Noone plays the release clause price of players.

United supposedly want Bruno Fernandes, according to Sky sources and they have been linked a lot elsewhere which makes me think this one is serious. I hope they go for him as I think he would struggle in the PL.

Therefore, I think that's one less challenger for Lo Celso

Yesterday we were negotiating for him and today we’ve dropped the deal... doesn’t quite add up.

Well, with the younger players, there's the potential for a big sell-on fee in the future. Older players, not so much. Plus the youngsters are often on lower wages, so a fee+wages comparison is required.

They want us to pay another record fee and he’s not worth it. I think it’s as simple as that. This is a negotiating tactic. Wouldn’t be surprised if he starts to force a move.

maybe we've had the green light elsewhere and needed to divert the cash? probably overly optimistic but may tie in with herc's/val's u-21 wonderkid......

if they want more money than tn came for, they've got no chance.

The transfer window prices are scandalous Maguire is quoted at 90M what the bloody hell. AWB 50M not even a full international. Lo Celso at least is a fine player full international and he will definitely improve us . Looking back on transfer fee the longer you wait the more expensive players become. We are at that stage imo we need to be brave get the quality in ie young hungry we want need to shell out big for another period of time.

Levy doesn't drop deals. If a price can't be reached he just leaves it for a while. We were negotiating for ndombele last summer.

The price utd are offering/being told is ridiculous.
There will be many transfers around europe that seem far more reasonable.

Wow - we've still got a chance on Berahino then!? ;)

*Cheap joke I know, but it still stands to a certain degree. Every player has a finite price as far as the buying club is concerned that they won't go over.

I completely agree, I’m just saying the stories of us dropping the deal seem like bullshit

I think you understand what i mean. He will revisit if things change. If berahino had the season of his life next year and was available for a good price he would take another look.
