I've read numerous posts this season that (perhaps justifiably) cited his lack of end product as justification for him not being selected despite our injuries. Two goals in two starts goes some way to putting that to rest. Let's hope this is the start of a good run of form, as we're going to need him for another 10(?) games before Maddison & Bentancur return.

Giovanni, I’d like to apologise your quality! stay fit and healthy and I’m sure you’ll be playing a lot of football.

He suits the Ange System.

It must help having targets to
Pass to in front of you

I have been his biggest critic since he’s come here…couldn’t for the life of me see him making it in the prem.

how wrong I was and how valuable he can be if he keeps it up!

come on gio, let’s keep it up !!!

It's that spell under mourinho that gave me hope. Particularly Southampton away that year. Since that year he hasn't played at all for us.

I don’t know for sure but I think he is far happier at spurs and London now which is resulting in better on field performances for us.
Anyone know what his English is like, has it improved and maybe another reason for being happier here
kept it going Gio and love you scoring some goals and starting to show your ability for us.

I think its clear he arrived for a manager who played attacking football and soon found himself in a defensive team. He hasn't really had a consistent run of games in the first team. At times due to injuries but also he would play in Europe with a weakened team who were frankly awful. I remember a couple of games in Europe he looked poor and then we brought a couple of first teamers on and instantly he looked better. What Ange has done is got us playing good football even with half the first team out. It just suits GLC so much to have freedom to get on the ball and play. You can't have this rigid system and expect him to perform when the whole team sits off. Signing players is largely about whether they are a good fit for the style of football and formation. If we had Jose in the summer you would not sign GLC for him. It's the issue of getting a manager with a totally different style of football.

It must really help having plenty of options in front of him to pass to, under conte, it must have been hard for some players we where deep and there was not many passing options.

PEH and Bents always looked over run.

Conte style prob suited pace when you have loads of space to run in to, under Ange it requires a very different skill set. Which really suits Los and Bents

Gioooooooo!
Erling should thank his lucky stars that wasn’t Romero. Fairly positive that encounter ends with Haaland in the fetal position, sucking his thumb, while Romero walks away with all of his hair.

Always felt uncomfortable when people compared him to N'Domebele, unlike N'domebele Lo Celso failings were never down to a lack of effort, glad his finally getting some redemption.

This place was so toxic then that I barely mentioned it. But Gio had a run of games where he was our best player a couple of seasons ago and the comparisons with N'Dombele were ridiculous.

I just dont see him staying beyond his contract
Agreed. He isn't first choice when others are fit, he's been let down by years of defensive managers who in Conte's case refused to even give him a chance, and he's been berated instead of supported by the muppet brigade in our fanbase. With only 18 months left I imagine we'd be tempted by a decent offer, our fans will moan as soon as he's gone, and totally refuse to accept their own role in it (see also e.g. Kieran Trippier)

Whether he was first team or not and playing every week I just don't see him sticking around
