Translation from my half-Spanish roommate, who doesn’t find it amusing that I keep asking him to translate for me (he’s not a football fan):

“About Lo Celso: Betis has spelled out the details with the Argentine of his transfer to Tottenham, as the clubs continue to negotiate.

It is impossible for Lo Celso to share a locker room next season with Fekir, Borja, Canales, and company. The stumbling block is salary margin.”

Essentially, Betis seem to be fully cooperating in getting the final details of the deal done as they realize they can’t bring in their two big signings (Fekir and Borja) and pay their wages without selling Lo Celso.

Real Betis is immersed in the transfer market to try to reinforce the squad, but first they must find outlets for some of their players, among them Lo Celso , who, according to what InformaBetis has learned, wants to play at Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder who arrived last season at Heliopolis is one of the most desired by Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine coach believes he is the perfect replacement for Eriksen and would have convinced the player to opt for the European runners-up.

The Betis from a first moment agreed a price with Lo Celso to allow its march: 75 million. However, the London club is not willing to reach this figure and the green and blue club would yield to accept an offer that is around 70 million euros as a fixed number more variables, before the desire of the player to stop in the 'Spurs' .

The agreement would be very close to occur and would allow the green and white to enter the market and try to close their two main desires: Fekir and Borja Iglesias. However, Real Betis would not receive all of the 70 million, but 20% of the surplus value would go to the coffers of PSG - as it was stipulated in the transfer - and another 4.5% to Rosario Central for the rights deformation. In fact, the relevant medical examination with the London team is expected to happen this week.
The march of Lo Celso seems a factafter his great season with the verdiblanca elastic. His great performances did not go unnoticed by the big clubs in Europe and the player has chosen his destination: Tottenham.

Not sure on the reliability of any of the sources, but seems to be a lot of smoke leaking tonight from both Sevilla and Argentina based sources that this is close.

It sounds essentially like Betis have accepted the fact he’s leaving and will eventually settle for a slightly lower number, probably €70m (£62.5m). That sounds about right, probably just some last minute haggling on what the incentives are to get it up to €70m.

There’s been a blitz of news out of Betis tonight, has to mean something.

Happy days. If we can get this done we are going to have quite the Swiss-army knife squad. Keep Eriksen and sign Sessegnon and keeping in mind we can’t fix everything in one window, I’m ecstatic with that.

If they're getting numbers of sell on fee in Argentina then I imagine a fee has been agreed in principle. Probably ironing out payment structure etc
Also if there has been money due to a club in South America then no wonder it’s taken so long. I expect it’s so complicated dealing with these teams as well sorting out their compensation fees.
