Of all the players that made more than 15 appearances this season, only De Bruyne made more open play chances per minute than Gio. Imo he was exactly what we needed for the second half of the season when we looked so bereft of creativity.
He is only exactly what we need if he actually wants to play for the club, trains well and makes himself available to the manager as often as possible. Based on the rumours since he has joined the club he is not a player that can be relied on so he is not what we need. Personally I am looking forward to him moving on in the summer so I no longer have to read posts about how Lo Celso is the answer over and over.

The viewpoint you reply to was based on facts and your viewpoint is based on like you said rumors.

I don’t know what he’s like behind the scenes but when he did get on the pitch, he doesn’t play like someone who doesn’t want to play for the club, he never stops running, tracks back and gets stuck in, you never see him avoiding a 50/50. He’s always the one that seems to be the most annoyed after a loss even if he only got on for the last 5 minutes.

but I do agree with you that he needs to move on as he’s too good a player to be wasted sitting on the bench.

This is the thing, he did come on and try, and he did get annoyed. He showed more passion about losing the ball than our safe players.

I'm hoping he moves on. I'm not buying into he didn't make himself available. He been on the bench plenty of times.

I love Gio, always have, think he’s a fantastic little player, but Ange clearly doesn’t want him as part of his plans and GLC is too often injured, I think it’s best for all parties if he moves on now.

Ange did not want to play him, although it was obvious we needed him, it appears Ange might’ve been proving a point.

I felt he was injured when Ange Needed him

talented player, he played so well against villa with bents in that first half at home.

i would think it was him rather than Ange

My question would be why is he then on the bench so much and coming on in 85th minute? Surely at that point you just give those regular 5 to 10 minutes to a youth player like Donley.

If a player is deemed not making himself available enough then he shouldn't be on the bench over someone who is available.

you can be fit enough to play but not fit enough to start.

you are right it’s a very good question

has he featured much for any manager At spurs, Jose played for a bit.

jose, nuno, poch, conte, Ange, mason, his either been unlucky, injured, or not fancied.

he has looked very good this season at times it is bizarre

Can’t wait to get shot if this guy. Another player fill of talent who cannot deliver or start fit.

I was listening to Ben fosters pod cast

he was saying how a lot of United players are faking injuries
injuries that take 2 to 3 weeks are taking 2 to 3 months
A lot of players dont do the pre and aftercare so get injured most injuries are the player's fault for not looking after themselfs.

he also said playing computer games are bad for injuries as it affects the hamstrings people are sitting in the wrong positions for long period of time

How much are we going to get for him ? 15m ?
Would we buy a replacement creative midfielder if he left ? Probably not.
Is he a disruptive element ? It doesn’t seem like it.
Does he add anything when he plays ? Yes , see his goals against Villa and City for instance
Has he been out injured excessively this season ? Well, 24 appearances and 6 unused subs doesn’t suggest that. And a few other games where he was fit but didn’t make the bench .Same as Bentancur basically and not much short of Richarlison and VDV.
To me, he would be the natural back up to Maddison, ahead of both Bentancur and Kulu in that role. Giving him 5 minutes repeatedly seemed a total waste.

Now maybe Ange sees Bergvall as that player but of course he needs time to settle in and prove himself. It would be a no brainer to keep GLC for another year. Unless of course Gio is understandably determined to leave in the summer in which case of course no point him staying.
