Big difference when he switched to cm today, I think he will be a valuable squad player for us this season and if winks is out I'd consider him a possible starter, not sure about RB though.

Good player and a big prospect imo.

He looked poor when playing in the front two, a lot of wayward passing made our lives harder. Second half at CM was a far better performance, he looked much much better in there, which makes sense given it's his position.

He looks like he’s really starting to play with more and more confidence, he’s a good example of young player new league right attitude clearly talented just needs time.

Can be a good CM in a 2 (Winks Type role) and can also cover at RWB.

Good talent and happy to see him progressing.

I think he’s a really nice prospect. But not worth anywhere near his option-to-buy. Not even close.

Looks like he ought to be able to go past the first man then lay it off, but isn’t managing it.

i think Gedson personally gets too much abuse. When ive seen him play in cm which im sure is his preferred position, hes always added energy and looked comfortable recycling the ball and covers well with his pace. He also stretches the game when hes been played wide and seems a good option to close a game down. I think the problem with the deal is that when he was signed it was revealed there was a very high buying price at the end of the loan. This has massively raised peoples expectations who might not understand that is the most the fee would be, but depends on certain achievements. If it was revealed wed paid 3.8m for 18 month load with no option, everyone would see it as a good deal and a player with potentil.

On saturday i feel he was a little lost first half (though many are playing as a 10 behind lucas lets be honest), then massively improved and actually showed himself to be much more comfortable than sissoko in the cm 2. He will be a great option if we reach the europa group stages and may develop during those games to become a good squad member.

Don't think anyone has abused him have they?

There are many who don't rate him and don't much potential there but this isn't abuse.

Heard a few reports that Jose rates him. So for now am happy to wait and see if he comes good.

The issue with Gedson is that it's clear that the club don't know what his best position is. He's played RB, CM, AM and has been mixed in all positions . This is a worry and I hope he can nail down a position otherwise he will be nothing more than a squad filler coming on in the last 10 minutes.

with the market likely to continue to change his potential value at the end of the loan is going to be drastically different to what we believe was agreed at the beginning, I wonder what would happen then, they might refuse to budge and sell elsewhere even if we really wanted him

Mourinho seems to have good links there

I disagree, I think we know his best position is CM, it's just that there's some pretty stiff competition there for a new youngster to break through.
I'm actually leaning towards him taking Sissoko's spot as he's got potential to be a much better player, he just needs games and confidence.

I think it's great to have a utility sub.

I wouldn't be surprised to find theres appearance fees linked with how often he's getting played. May be wrong of course but I wonder what some are watching if they cant see theres a very good player there.
I always find it amusing how some players get given time 'oh he's a bit rusty, he's got to get used to the pl, blah blah blah' while another young player comes in, has cameo appearances in multiple positions and because he doesn't score a hattrick or light up the place he's deemed shit.
He has great ball control, can see a pass, is fast and so recovers very well defensively. He also puts in a shift. I dont know what more he can do but I feel if we let him go he'll probably make us look like mugs in the future.
Yeah, I like him.

I see him as a 21 year old kid with plenty of technique and decent pace. I'm sure the staff and player know where his best position lies (probably CM) but whilst he's still getting experience and minutes it isn't a bad thing for him to try out a few different positions around the pitch - that serves to not only give him a more rounded development but also gives some versatility and options for us in rotation with other players.
