Funny you say that - my 'murican buddies all tell me how much of a girls sport "soccer" is over there. Like our schools had netball, their schools all have football programs that are just rammed with girls, who all idolise the national team.

I mean, I didn't ask why any of these middle aged blokes know so much about school girls, but probably for the best.

Alex Morgan is actually really popular in the states, probably moreso after the Olympics. She had a bunch of modelling deals and during the Summer Olympics was on TV almost daily.. not sure if people care about her club career but she's as big of a deal as any woman footballer and maybe even 2nd or 3rd behind Serena Williams in terms of American women athletes.
