If you believe that we (or someone else) can pick up Bale at no fee to real madrid and half his salary.......The only unknown is the COVID effect on the football economy
Bale will divide opinion, that's a given
Imagine you are sitting having a chat with him and you are talking about the money...Honey

Take the emotion out of the Vapid hot air and what have we got left......

The numbers and for the moment we assume the numbers being thrown around are correct ie RM will pay half his salary to get rid!

If he stays at RM he picks up €30m gross pa until his contract runs out... (June 30 22) , 21 Months from (end this month) so that is €52.5 Spanish tax rates are 52% for footballers and so his net is 48% or in other words €25.2m over 21 months is what he takes home after Tax in Spain, or £22.7m

In the UK on same gross salary of €52.5 he gets to keep 55% or €28.8.
so that works out £25.95m so over 21 months £3.25 million just by coming home on its own

So if a UK club and Madrid were to pay his salary between us he could be better off!

Say he were to move back to the UK and Madrid offered him a Lump sum payment of €26.25m ie half his wages over the next 21 months. Then he is really looking at earning about 23m euros to stay the same from we or whoever else buys him in the UK

Apparently, last year Harry Kane (in round tems) was able to earn up to £300k Gross a week based on Performances, lets say on average that means a basic of £200k and a bonus of £50k per week, and we would be happy to let Bale match that = £250K x 84 weeks = £21m, plus the 3m tax saving and he is very close to being on the same as he is now

Assume the club want to keep him below Kane optically, and put him on 200k pw.
that would mean £200k pw x 81weeks= 16.2m a £5m signing an bonus gets him to the same place. ie 21.2m or the same as hes getting now.

Finally If you give him another year at 200k ie till 2023 you blow his current deal out of the water...

Jose and Fergie have done this kind of deal before for mature talent...(Ibrahimovic and Larsen) Both were much older than Bale is now!
If Madrid will a let him go for free and pay half his salary this deal is doable.

Wales Golf Madrid in that order...

I don't pretend to follow Wales or the Nations League too closely. Ryan Giggs does however, and there were numerous reports of him looking rusty vs. Finland. Giggs followed up with :
"Two days training and going into a tough international game was always going to be hard physically. But he recovered well and, speaking to him in the last couple of days, it's the best he's felt in a long time."

Look, Bale is 31 now and has a very keen eye on Euro 2021. He knows it could likely be his last major international tournament and as the Welsh captain I really think he cares and wants to be in form for it. in 2019 he may not have cared about playing for Madrid and only wants the money, but I really don't see it as a coincidence that reports of him pushing for a move come out after testing out his body in internationals. He knows he needs to be playing regularly to be his best, so for once I really do believe he would accept a move to Spurs, even for only a year. I don't think this is a pipe dream anymore in the slightest.

The flaw in the wanting to be in the best form for the Euros argument is that the tournament should have happened already so he shouldn't still be at Madrid now. I know he tried to move to China and it was blocked at the last minute, but he could have found a different club in January if he was really concerned.
He obviously wants to move now though, I'm just not sure how much he's prepared to compromise financially.

It's my birthday on Monday and all I want is bale back at spurs. I know this won't happen but man I would love nothing more to wake up, go on SC and see a full blown GIF party happening in here. Anyways reality is I will wake up and see that we signed Crouch on a 2 month contract

rumour is its before tax. Tax in spain is generally higher than the uk, and also they have a wealth tax.

However, in the past you had the Beckham law, which is taxed at a fixed rate and would be considerably less in tax than in the uk. Nevertheless, it appears that athletes are now not allowed to claim under this law, though a good accountant might see to that, so it means that Bale is likely to be paying more. Madrid has essentially removed the wealth tax there, so he is likely to be paying a little more in spain but nothing earth shattering (the top rate is the same but comes in earlier, council tax is also mostly covered in a different way which makes it pretty complex to calculate)
Thanks. Just wondered if there was a tax scenario that meant we could pay him less, but he could earn the same

I’m so concerned about the levels of getting excited that inevitably lead to the spitting feather levels of anger.

For reals lads, please be kind to yourselves. About both Bale and Daka.

Anybody wanting Bale will surely wait until the last minute of the window to get the best deal from Real Madrid.

p.s I don't think we have a chance by the way.

It's going to be Deeney & a cheeky late bid for Bolasie, isn't it?

I guess that a good accountant can be creative but ultimately nothing can be done about his tax bracket.
