I'm not sure the choice of Pope, Johnstone or Forster is even a thing to discuss.

Homegrown - Pope, Johnstone, Forster

Free - Johnstone, Forster

Seemingly willing to sacrifice a starting spot - Forster (SJ with a change o heart if rumour believed)

3 boxes the club seem to want to tick. Forster is the only actual fit from those 3 options. No one is literally picking Forster over Pope.

Plus he’s not going to turn down coming to us now.

He isn't going to set fans alight, but a solid back up for the cups. Solid pro who can help the younger keepers too.

Tbh I think it’s the same for everyone if it were down to ability, but Forster is free and happy to sit on bench.
Pope is probably £30m and not happy to be sat on bench
Pope should be starting wherever he goes and that's the England fan in me. I need our keepers playing every week, not on the bench. Don't mind him not coming here just yet if Hugo is staying a little longer.

In terms of quality back ups, I think he is a decent 3rd choice keeper. Given that Hugo is ageing and likely to be his last season in 22/23, I really hope we go out and sign someone like Pope to compete with him this year. Pope would be foolish to turn down the chance to come to us initially as a number two knowing full well that Hugo's time will be up shortly.

More pressing needs than to look for the long-term replacement for Lloris this summer.

We need to find one - but probably next summer.

This is a great start, smart pick up for a (HG)problem position for very little economic outlay.

Not sure about this, if FF is all we're getting in this summer, it's a big gamble
We gambled last season on Gollini, kinda got away with it, though maybe cost us Europe.
I still have hope for Austin, but no idea if he's good enough to be back up.

I imagine this is Paratici bidding/offering on everyone and seeing which one bites and using the news to push his real target into a decision.

That's what was assumed, but looks like Johnstone will go to be a number 1 somewhere and if a medical is happening looks like a done deal.

Suspect Johnstone is a better option, however my W Brom season ticket holding friend tells me he's "not very good at catching the ball", which you'd think would be on the "Required" section of the job advert.

We all saw 29 and home grown and collectively creamed our jeans rosterbating.

2nd string realistically is only going to play early rounds of domestic cups next season barring an injury to Hugo so a cheap, homegrown, solid option makes total sense. Don’t see why we’d drop £20mil+ on Pope or even bother trying to convince Johnstone when it’s not a priority position.

Apparently, the stats show that he's decent?
