Let’s have this right.

He’s been fantastic since Vicario got injured, he’s had a few MOTM performances and made so many great saves.

Tonight he was a disaster and nearly cost us the game, however we all knew he wasn’t really the modern 2nd choice goalie we needed going into this season and we were left short yet again.

It is what it is, if we win something down to these bare bones it’s a miracle from Ange.

Forster has been fucking brilliant while Vicario is injured. Arguably, he's been even better than Vicario. Hope the two dumb goals get laughed off and he gets back on the super saves and dominating the box till Vic is back.

Also the fuss over the kick save is overrated. He kicked the ball and off the ball fucked. Problem solved.

Exactly this - as Carragher said in his post match analysis, Forster never has and never will be a ball playing sweeper keeper so you can’t blame him when he’s being asked to do things with the ball at his feet that he’s just not capable of.

He’s been great for us up until this point and even made a couple of great saves tonight (not his impression of me in the garden with the kids saving with his feet though 😳).

He gets a pass from me as he shouldn’t have been put in that position (especially with the second one) when we could and should’ve played forward from the free kick.

anyway, we’re through and it’s all good.

Worst game since he stepped up. And we still won. Back the big man.
💯 mate, he’s been absolutely class, 5-6 fantastic games, 1 poor one.

Long term of course he’s not good enough or the right fit for us as our back-up goalie but for the rest of this season at least he is our first choice so let’s get behind the big lad.

The kick save was a good save tbh!

Didn't like the way those two ****s on commentary were absolutely willing him to fuck up every time he had the ball after the second mistake. Dickheads of the highest order.

He made some incredibly poor errors in the second half but I have zero interest in laying into him and zero time for those that do. He’s been very good for us since he’s come in and deserves some leeway here. My only concern is if he can stay confident on Sunday, if this has knocked him for six then yes we could be in trouble but let’s try to be optimistic here.

Ange needs to help him out a bit and stop the kamikaze routines in the penalty area. You could feel the relief when he started banging it up the pitch.

Yeah like others on here I’m not going to knock him too much because up until now he’s been great for us, better than most hoped or expected. It didn’t cost us the game so I won’t lay into him.

The one thing he has going for him in that regard at least is absolutely masses of top level experience to fall back on, which is I suppose the idea behind having a veteran keeper in the squad in this role sometimes. I'm sure that he'll square this one away as a bad day at the office doing something he isn't good at.

Just needs to smash that first time
It’s a difficult one with Forster, 2nd choice, 36 yes old, so all are going easy on him, had it been Vic, no doubts the fan base would be saying sell him.

but as a veteran keeper he should know to watch out on closures, when playing short, there is always 1 man free, always.

his job is to find him, either by short intricate passing to open up the gaps, or direct.

first goal, should never have gone out right, that should have been a clearance, although the defender came right back onto the goal line..

second goal, he just stood there and let it run to him, thus not leaving enough time, that should be met at least on the 18 yard box, and even when closed down, he actually had enough time to turn opposite way, just so poor and completely unaware.

by then the whole team were shook, but he got away with it and he’ll definitely know that too!

I wish some other backups were like him where they could have 4 great performances and only one shitty one. Actually we could use more starters like that too.

Made a couple of class saves and got sold out by Gray for a couple of goals. I can’t believe the comments like “his first touch should have been better rather than take two touches “. WTF. He’s a 6’7” lump of a goalkeeper with the ball heading to the goal line 6” behind him. Of course his first touch is all about keeping the ball out of the net. If Ange is seriously unable to blame Gray for both goals, and thinks that kind of back pass is the way forward, he should put Maddison in goal.

I’m not sure what people expect, we won’t keep an ‘amazing’ goalkeeper as a second choice.
He has done well as a second choice, reserve to come in and play quite well.

Hopefully this doesn't knock his confidence too much.
Won't be helped by all the jeering by our fans and screaming him to kick it every time he touches the ball.

So many around me laying into him, our supporters really don't help a lot of the time, I get the frustration but the whole point is we're there to SUPPORT.

Had a one-off bad night, albeit I'm now a bit concerned teams will target him in possession.
