Here's the thing, though.

We've got a lot of games coming up, but we should be expected to dominate the ball in the majority of them. We're also defending way better as a unit, certainly in the PL.

I don't think looking the EL is quite fair, as that's never been a first choice defence or midfield and that is always going to lead to more chances.

He was really good in the home game in the EL, made some really good saves and he's good with the ball at his feet. Defend as a unit, don't let shots at him, certainly low down, as he moves like the Titanic towards those shots.

But we should dominate the ball and restrict most opponents or be capable of such. The fact that opponents might also think they've got more of a chance with him in goal might force them forward a bit more and leave some gaps and we may not come up against as many parked buses. And we can absolutely muller anyone when that happens.

I know Forster is way past his best but can we at least give him a chance to prove us wrong before we start shitting on him?

So let's see.

Some of us, not all, but a fair proportion, moaned and whinged and mewled and complained when it became clear that we'd have to play a Dragusin - Davies partnership at Manchester City.

Why?

Because they weren't first choice, didn't necessarily fit the team dynamic and had played badly on occasion in the past.

And then a fair proportion of that fair proportion did a reverse ferret and were all 'fucking hell, Dragusin was class and Davies, what a consummate professional he is, utter class, sign him up for an extended contract, say I' when we won.

And then, 48 hours later, we lose Vicario, to be replaced by a keeper who isn't first choice, doesn't necessarily fit the team dynamic and has played badly on occasion in the past.

So what do we do?

Do we

a) Learn from our premature complaints about Dragusin and Davies, and cut Forster some slack, give him our support and wish him all the best?

Or do we

b) Moan and whinge and mewl and complain?

The choice is yours.

But opt for (b) and I'll be sat here like the medieval knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, shaking my head in disappointment and muttering under my breath...

Everyone that moaned about Forster taking Spence's Europa squad place will be eating a large slice of humble pie

Surely no one is wishing him the worst. But we’ve all seen him play. He can still save shots within his arm length, but his lack of mobility/agility is a real issue.

That’s without even thinking about his complete inability to play with the ball at his feet.

I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get a red at some point for steaming off his line and mistiming something. Did it twice against Galatasary and got lucky.

Buckle up until Jan.
