Now Burnley are down, it's Nick Pope all day long for me.
I’m assuming that he’ll be first choice elsewhere.Johnstone wants to go somewhere else. I think it’s clear we’re not picking Forster over him.
Hugo can't play every game in both CL and PL
He’s gonna want to play, not warm the bench. He’ll want to be in the squad for the World CupNow Burnley are down, it's Nick Pope all day long for me.
This is such a tired short sighted opinion of goalkeepers. They need to remain alert and strong both mentally and physically for the whole game - there’s nothing behind them to save them from embarrassment if they make a mistake unlike every other position. Reflexes and recovery have to be on point. Why not. GK is the least physically taxing position.
Fair enough, would take Pope over FF in fairnessJohnstone wants to go somewhere else. I think it’s clear we’re not picking Forster over him.
Don’t think we need to be spending a lot on our reserve keeper. While Burnley may need to sell, they’ll still want a hefty wedge for one of their more saleable assets. Plus I imagine Pope will want first team football.Id much rather we go for Nick Pope. Burnley isn't looking to hot with their takeover, I think there's a deal to be had.
Why would we buy a 34 year old back up when Johnstone is available on a free and is 5 years younger I think
Agree... but would he accept to be number 2 with the World Cup this year ? ... he ain't going to wait for Hugo to quit... and with regular gametime and good performances Pope could be selected for the WC.Now Burnley are down, it's Nick Pope all day long for me.
Forster is weak with his feet and on shots low down. He's a throwback of a Keeper. I know Spurs are desperate to fill a HG spot so have narrowed their field to cheap British goalkeepers but I'd love us to go for someone with a bit of upside for this 2nd slot and look for a GK of the future that can ping it to all parts, Ederson and Alisson are such difference makers for their clubs. No chance Tottenham ever sign a GK for 50m under this current ownership so we need to be creative in how we find a Keeper of that level to take us beyond Lloris.
Lo-Tutala in the Academy is going to be very good but hes too early for Conte. I'm worried we will lose Lo-Tutala.
In 10 years time the people that will play in Goal for teams will be the GK that can pass the ball the best regardless of age. Goalkeeper the one position that football hasn't been driven forward massively. Liverpool's 2nd choice Kelleher has little athletic ability, no first team experience but is incredibly calm with the ball. In the League Cup Final he was excellent.
The modern day keeper needs to be 1. Great with the ball 2. cold and calm 3. Power Athlete
Pickford and Ramsdale possess excellent technique but are so crazy and hyper that when the pressure gets high their mind fractures and the passing becomes erratic. Calmness without technique is pointless.
