Zaniolo is going to be a €50m+ signing one day, most likely by Juve or a Milan club. Don’t think Roma want to part with him in the slightest.

I can see this happening, the time is right.

I've loved his commitment but overall his Tottenham career has been a mixed bag, not helped by all the injury problems.

This is an opportunity to enhance the quality of our strength in depth and Mourinho is here to win with no sentimental interests.

Last links for new winger wasn’t HG, in that case we should be looking for Buendia. That would be fantastic replacement for Lamela

I feel like I'm a rare Spurs fan that has wanted Lamela gone for 2 years now. I like that he loves the club but he's not helping us on the field at all. He has big wages, taking up a foreign roster spot and is rarely available. Should have been sold two summers ago.

We can't keep players just because fans like them. That's not how a winning club works.

He’s been an amazing servant and nobody can question his commitment but even in his absolute best games he seemed to just lack that end product or little bit of extra real quality.

I don’t know why we’d get rid of him when the money we would get wouldn’t find anybody near his quality.

Especially this year when our budgets have been affected by Covid.

I feel Lamela was brought in to be an attacking player, create and score goals. What he has essentially become is an option for closing out games, harrying the opposition, and putting in niggly fouls to break the oppositions momentum. The only things you can really guarantee with him these days is, an admirable amount of effort, and a booking. Doesn’t score or create enough for the role needed.

I like him as a person, and love his passion and aggression. I disagree with some of the above though, I think there are other players that could take his place in the squad and provide more. Especially considering his injury record.

You just know he'd go elsewhere and racked up 40 games in a season....

Agree with most of that but I always find it amazing that he never received a red card for us

If he does go I wish him well and will always wonder what he could have done for us had he been fit as you could argue that he’s never been 100% since he joined

Attitude always has been 100% though

Do you genuinely think that's how running a football club works? Levy, Poch and Jose running popularity tests within the fanbase and going "You know what, the fans like Lamela... let's not sell him"

If that's how it worked Levy would have sold Jan Vertonghen due to hating him around the Tim Sherwood era because fans, despite how they feel now, and they may very well even deny it now, thought that we should have sold Vertonghen around then because apparently he was a miserable git who didn't want to play for us.

Thankfully the feelings of fans plays no part in decision making, because the majority of fans are dumb AF.

It’s too late now for him to suddenly become a vital fixture in side. Fitness wise he’s always not far off being injured again. For a while now his use has been as a sub to come on and press and work extremely hard. In terms of that he’s actually a role model to others, it’s quite frankly ridiculous other professionals can’t put in that level of effort when take the field.

I’m not sure if he’ll work out here but personally I’d rather give his minutes to Gedson to see if he’s worth signing next summer. Now is the time to move players out of the squad who aren’t really a huge loss if they left and move to a new chapter. Aurier and Lamela can go and we’d be fine, I’d argue we’d fine if Sissoko left too as long as another midfielder arrived along with Højbjerg.

Of course that's not how it works. I meant, as fans we need to understand that. Some fans love a player so much, they would keep them no matter how often or how well that played. That is not how a club is run. That's the point I was getting at.

I'm not that dumb that I think Levy reads SC every night figuring out who to buy/sell.

If we bring in some 21 year old prospect to replace him, they won't take to the bench life as well as him, and we'll lose a lot from the squad when his attitude and passion go.

Will a good-value prospect, bought in an opportunistic deal, have such better touch and vision than Lamela, that it makes up for losing his character attributes? I think not, so the only player it makes sense to replace him with is a truely elite No.10 prospect. Otherwise we just trash some kid's career and he ends up sulking whilst Lamela could have been driving us on.

Im not sure we should sell. Lamela's a tireless worker, is always looking forward and trying to do something when it seems no one else gives a shit. He puts his body on the line for us and is a fucking bastard. We need that in this team. Especially with Jose. Lamela is the only player we have like this. Others are just too nice(in a matter of speaking) and also fall into the complacent, lack of care bullshit when things arent going our way and look like they're too busy thinking about what they're going to have for dinner.

This is where I’m torn. He’s such a great option to bring off the bench to add impetus and bite on the pitch. He’s the type to get his teammates going through his aggression. The problem is he’s at an age where now might be the best time to cash in. It’s not like he’s gonna have a late career revival where he bangs 10-15 goals although sure hope he does. His wages are also relatively high, and freeing those up could allow us to sign a sarr or a Benrahma. I’m all for keeping him though if there is no affordable replacement Jose is desperate to sign.

feels like if we could offload him for like £20m (that might be unrealistic) then we could get someone like Eze for £15m or so, lower wages, younger, etc.

Yep. Ideally we’d sell and replace with a younger player with more potential, but at the same time with the ability to fight for a place in the starting lineup. It’s all about backing Jose this window imo. If he sanctions coco’s sale and has a replacement in mind, it’s gotta be done.
