It's time for Spurs to move on from Coco and officially put an end to the Bale 7 era.

Sign Eze up and give him Lamela's role in the squad.

I think we will try to buy jonathan ikone if we sell lamela ... Even eze will be really solid acquisition if we sell lamela

The lack of runners argument really doesn’t tally with the evidence of my own eyes. He just dwells on the ball for a second or two too long, every single time. It’s like it takes him that much longer than better players to process what’s happening, make a decision, and then actually execute.

I see the Lamela defenders still defend the guy, because he runs more than other in the team. Laughable. Yesterday was top of the iceberg.
He's shit. Has always been. Never contributed enough in a front 3 and never justified us spending £30m on the guy, which was a lot at the time.

That £30m 7 years ago is equivalent to say at least £50m in today's market.

Just let that sink in.

If he came up for sale would any of the of the current top 6 be interested?...not a chance as he is too slow and injury prone. Send him back to Italy and recoup as much as we can get.

I think it’s ridiculous singling out any of our attacking players when, as a unit, we’re absolute fucking shite in our build up play, movement, fluidity and just general all round play. I swear when some of our fans are screaming “pass it” the pass isn’t really on to begin with and/or the pass is a lot harder/riskier than it looks. Anyway, not his greatest but I’ve seen just as bad, if not worse, from the likes of Son, Alli, Moura and, errr, just about everyone

Apart from Kane and Son who else would any of the top 6 be interested in?

I get your point. Probably lo celso and maybe bergwijn but that's about it imo.

I understand the sentiment to sell him, and a lot of our squad, but do we really trust our transfer committee to sign better players than what we currently have? I don't.

As with practically all our players they aren't good enough for a top 4 side but will be unwilling to move to a side that is their actual level so we will struggle to move them on.

Form is not irrelevant to a players value at all. Anyway, you didn’t answer the question
You know the answer to the question, no one else and even Son at 28 years old is pushing it.

Yeah, I’m really torn on this tbh. On the one hand I’ve been banging the “our players aren’t good enough” drum for a while but on the other hand I think our players are a lot better than they’re currently showing.

I get why some want rid, you could make a genuine case to get rid of all the ****s at the moment but, for me, we have far more pressing issues, personnel wise, than Lamela.

He works hard, but on at least 3 occasions last night he held on to the ball too long when there was a pass on.
His lack of pace means he is always focusing on getting his body in the right position to shield the ball and not looking up to pick out a pass.
Squad player at best now and if a reasonable offer came in, I wouldn't object moving him on.

So get rid of the whole squad then?
No because that is not feasible all in one transfer window but over the next three or four I would expect a lot of that starting 11 last night to be moved on.

Also with the likely budget we will be working with we need to be creative, so by selling Lamela and Dele to fund new arrivals I would be open to this. As in reality whatever happens next season is going to be a chore.

Supposedly top players never trying a risky pass is a huge problem for us. They play it safe everytime. Lamela does it and needs two extra touches to deliver it.

When we were really good, Son and Alli were major components of that side. Lamela been bit part his whole time here. It's time for him to move on. It was time 2 seasons or more ago.

I disagree. That season (2016 I think) he was a critical player for us who regularly started and was a big game player.

I can think of 5/6 players in other areas that I’d be looking to address way before Lamela

2016? Four years ago he was a critical player
There lies the problem.

And he’s had a pretty bad injury list since then hasn’t he. It’s not like he’s been available every single game since 2016 has it.

I would say it's time to part company but with the covid situation I'm not sure how many players we will sign so may keep for one more season.
