I really want him to be a DM but I cannot deny how well he organised, played out, and defended. Well done to him really.

Maybe it's the legs, maybe it's the brain, but he spends an awful lot of games chasing shadows at DM. He's much better at CB, good size, fast enough for a CB, good range of longer passing and 90% of the time the play is in front of him.

Antonio always terrorises us and he worries the life out of me. Eric did a job on him tonight, got nice and tight and bullied him. Another v strong performance. Well done Eric!

People forget that Dier is only 26.

Centre backs don't hit their prime until late 20.

A Dier-Sanchez partnership could be similar in styles to Staam-Nesta at AC Milan, Staam (Sanchez) is the aggressor while Nesta (Dier) is the sweeper.

Dier looks like he's lost some of that muscle he put on - he was absolutely jacked not too long ago - and it seems to have helped.

Dier looks more like being the aggressor and bully in this partnership - he was a colossus tonight. Won everything against Antonio.

Very encouraging signs in the last few games. He is physically imposing but also comfortable on the ball from his days in DM. Seems to be a leader and is constantly in Sanchez' ear. Not the most agile due to his size but has a decent top speed when he gets going.

I like him, he's served us well and I like his mentality. Looks like he's finally over his illness issues too. What a bonus it would be if he comes good at CB.

Jose has his Drogba in Kane, and I suspect he sees Dier as his John Terry. The exciting thing is he could be right. And on the plus side, unlike Terry, Dier isn't a complete asshole
