Anybody who thinks Dier was shit today is'nt worth paying attention to.

He dominated the midfield area today wth his physical presence and aerial dominance.

He was a little rusty and tired which is to be expected due to his lack of football this year.

Didn't think Dier was good today. Sloppy on the ball, a bit to slow and didn’t get back quick enough sometimes. But overall not to bad either, good in the air. A bit rusty which I would expect. Can only imagine he will grow with more games.

Crikey! Give the lad a faking break FFS. He has not played for his long with various issues. Given a run of games, he will find himself. He was ok today.

Neither did Aurier. People love their scapegoats.

I think a lot of people will never change their opinion because they don't like his style of play as a midfielder. It's like they forget the two best years of football we played under Poch (and in my 30 odd years supporting Spurs) was with him in the team (2015-17). He's never going to be as majestic as Dembele or a powerhouse like Wanyama in 2016-17 but he can do a job. People have to get used to the idea Dier will be a midfielder once again. And I think in time he'll prove himself.

I think when Dier was at his best (or most effective for us) was when he was just focussing on always being in the right place at the right time. Cutting out passing angle, stopping breaks with crunching tackles, and just moving the ball quickly to better passers. But always being in the right place. Admittedly he was also playing a lot deeper and often dropping into the back line but we had Dembele back then who could boss a whole midfield on his own and we had wingbacks who would get up the pitch and add bodies to the midfield to help.

His confidence and fitness are going to improve with a solid run of games, and when playing with Ndombele he'lll have less responsibility creatively. I have a strong feeling Mou will turn him back to the midfield enforcer we saw in 15/16 playing alongside Dembele.

Yep appendixcitus often has long lasting reoccurring issues and illnesses which he’s had for the last 12 months but hopefully he’s over that now and can start getting a run of games.

Really? I think he made two bad misplaced passes but otherwise he was fine. Guy hasn’t played 90 mins in CDM for a year, once he gets match fit in that position he’ll be fine.

Yeah hopefully with games, fitness obviously improves, form starts coming back etc etc
I thought it was more than two misplaced passes, he gave up possession a few times but hopefully just rust. Against better sides we cant afford to be sloppy.

I try and judge players after 4 or 5 consecutive starts. Also why I think it is silly to change you back 4 every game.

Agree mate in a big game against the top sides in yet to know if he can do the business in that position but Jose clearly has faith in him as he’s tried to buy him at man.u so hopefully he can become our matic.

I agree that Dier moved well and positioned himself well without the ball. Which the most important thing if counter pressing as opposed to high pressing is going to work.

He was good, just what the defence needs.

Just needs to stop giving the ball away although I just think he needs some rhythm

I thought he did fine today. He started particularly well but probably tired towards the end which led to a couple of sloppy passes.
