He's a big lad who has suffered injuries and ill health, my guess is he needs a good rest and a proper pre season to get back to his best. He lacks mobility but has a great attitude, I'd love to see him shielding the back 4 with the FBs pushing on.

Please don’t let him near central midfield again, unless he’s advancing out of central defence to pass to a technically able central midfielder and then quickly scuttling back again. To central defence. And not central midfield

People's ire should be directed at Eric, fuck'd if I know what he thought he was doing for 45 minutes on the pitch, but it looked like he didn't give two fucks.

I wouldn’t say he didn’t care, he looked badly out of shape and lacking fitness imo.
That’s not really his fault as I suspect he has been asked to play when he is not 100% right due to our injuries

Looked uninterested, head wasn't in the game for me and was lucky to be one the pitch.

After the yellow he did nothing to avert a red...hence the substitution.

He’s a senior player and should have shown some restraint after the early booking, yet he continued to make rash tackles. Poch had no choice but to replace him to save him from a second yellow.

Dier’s ‘second’ yellow came from him losing the ball to a really obvious bit of pressure from a Bournemouth player. Then he was flat-footed and had to put in a desperate tackle that could easily have seen him sent off. Except he didn’t have to put the challenge in because there was cover. His ‘penalty’ tackle was even worse; clumsy, reckless and unnecessary.

He’s looked really poor since he returned from injury but today he was a clear liability

I was happy for dier to take a yellow for stopping a dangerous break for his first one, the 2nd one he got the ball imo and was lucky not to give away a penalty for the third.
Forthys was rash and stupid but I can understand how it happened.
Sons was easily avoidable and was petty retaliation and who I would say should shoulder most of the blame for today loss.
I think son is a top guy and will take this personally and considering he is suspended for the Everton match I believe he will be on top of his game come Wednesday ?

Let's face it, he is never going to be a quality midfielder. He looked better than he is a season to two ago thanks to having Dembele next him but now he isn't there, he looks out his depth in midfield. I don't mind him as part of the squad as he can fill in at CB, RB and midfield on occasions when needed however no way is he a regular starter.

Think you’re spot on. He looks a lot heavier and slower than his already slow usual self but I agree and think this is because he’s not match fit and being asked to play due to our injuries etc. That having said I’ve not ever rated him as a DM and today again proved that.

Worrying thing is Poch moved him to DM and now I don’t know if he’s too stubborn to move him back to CM or if he wants to buy a replacement but we can find/afford one?

Every time I see him, he looks slower and less mobile, mad to think his only 25

Ultimately he is a defender masquerading as a midfielder and it especially shows against the better teams who close him down, don't give time on the ball and the watch him try and turn on the ball like an oil tanker. Yes against teams who's it back, he'll have time on the ball and pass the ball around but it's pointless when we can have Vertonghen and Alderweirald step up and look for passes.

I know someone who works closely with the first team squads of one of the other top 5 teams and remember talking to him before our game with them and put it this way, they didn't particularly rate Dier in midfield and see him as massive weakness for us. Plan is always to specifically target him as quick as possible when he has the ball.
