If he played for sporting Lisbon and Gyokores(I have no idea if that's how it's spelt), played for Bournemouth I wonder if people would be clamouring for Solanke.

I like him, he is mobile, athletic can find the goal, works hard, holds the ball up and can score with both head and feet. He isn't the sexy name we want but do we even need a sexy name when Anges system and principles are the star?

My only reservation apart from the ridiculous prices attached to premier league talent is the fact I saw him say he was a junior gunner. But he also said he grew out of supporting anyone once he became a pro so we can let him off for that.😏

I remember Solanke was considered one of the best English talents in the country at Chelsea.

Maybe he’s a late bloomer? Just look at Vardy.

He also managed 19 premier league goals in a poor Bournemouth side. Richarlison has never hit those sort of numbers anytime in his career.

Yep, i was surprised to see the negativity surrounding this news tbh, and even more surprised to see some posts suggesting they'd rather go into the season with Richy, Son and Lankshear than spend £65m on Solanke - an utterly bizzare take for me, why on earth you wouldn't want a 2nd proper striker to supplement what we currently have is beyond me, i couldn't care less how much he costs, he's either what the manager wants and affordable or he isn't. It'd strengthen us this season and you'd still have the option to sell Richy and buy in the 'upgrade' next year when more 'upgrades' are actually available.

Solanke would probably do pretty well for us.

Just had heart set on Eze and Neto :(
We would definitely still need one of those two or a similar type player but if we're talking pure striker options then Solanke isn't a bad shout.

Maybe we linked it to romano to make Richy think twice about going to Saudi?

Solanke would be alright. Hardly a game changing signing one would think but as striking options go, decent and could thrive in this system. Would probably prefer him over Toney if I'm honest.

FWIW I think we need a striker.

I don’t give a donkey’s shit what stats players have had for other clubs in the past…it’s all about how well the scouting network (note “network, not just “Lange” as is often lazily said) think a player will suit how we want to play.

Whether that’s Solanke or not, who knows? But I’ll be pretty damn sure whoever it is we bring in will surprise you all and will be a great fit.

One million percent

This does actually seem to be building a bit of steam. Whilst I am unsure of him being able to perform at a higher level for us I think having him AND Richy gives us great options at centre forward. I wouldnt want to have just the option of one of them though. Unfortunately, I suspect it will be knowing us.

Then just fucking leave it. We'd have Richy, Son and Lankshear as the options. I've said it so many times, I don't want to buy any senior players on 5 year contracts unless they are seen as real upgrades and long term options. The money being talked about for a player who is 26 and has had one good PL season, whilst doing his best work on the counter attack is insane.
Seems to me that solanke must be down our list of targets, so we have missed out on our top ones. I’d rather keep Richie and gamble on lankshear personally.

For all the fanfare about changing our transfer policy and bringing in a new structure and new personnel, things seem exactly the same.

I actually don't think Solanke would be a bad player - if it was closer to the £35/£40mil mark and a more consistently available replacement for Richarlison.

I think it will be. I cant see us going to £65m. Maybe that is why players being chucked in might be a plan. Their manager is good, I think they will be the surprise team this year.

This quote from Ange's press conference this morning certainly sounds like a new striker is high on his list of priorities:

The issue I have with this, isn't even necessarily about the player or his ability - think he would be good fwiw.

But the fact that we've waited until now? Solanke wasn't involved in any international tournament this summer, so if we knew he was one of our targets, surely this is one that couldve been done earlier in the summer?

Apparently Reguilon has turned down a lot of offers this window. I wonder if Iraola could convince him of a stint on the south coast.

Ali said on his latest podcast episode he would be stunned if we didnt sign a new striker in the window.

Maybe Gyokeres was top choice and we've just been informed he wants to go elsewhere?

Interesting that striker is clearly a focus when all of the ITK has been on Neto and Eze.

Munn and Lange (& Ange?) are clearly good at plugging leaks which is quite frustrating after the Don Paratici days!

I think they have Kerkez as first choice, who is a good player and better than Regi so I am not sure he'd go there as back up. But that is a good shout.

With the way they play I am not sure who they'd actually want from our squad that we are willing to let go.

I'd be crazy to think we'd try and actually swap Richy for him. Now that would be creative! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I've said all summer we need another striker so I am glad big Ange agrees with me?!?!?

Anyone know his FM stats??? ;)

Seriously though, I picked one random game of his last season and I like these finishes. Even though two are headers, he just seems to know where the ball will land. Can't teach that.
