He’s been excellent all season in terms of work rate, hold up play and all that ugly stuff. Fully deserved the goals today. I reckon a fair few teams in the upper echelons of the league wish they had him in their ranks.

The finish for his first was sublime. Credit to Deki for the through ball too, timed to absolute perfection.

He's a class better than I thought he was, and I always thought he would be a good signing. But that chipped finish. Woah

If you go to a game, watch how much he runs and what he does for the team off the ball. So unselfish. You don't see that on TV unfortunately. Those who look at stats from a distance will doubt his goal output, but that's only half the story with him. I'm with Trix and wasn't sold when I heard what we were doing. However, now I think he's just right for Ange's setup, and also the goals will come.
Couldn't agree more. I can't stand being wrong about a player but I'll make an exception in Dom's case.

He's been brilliant this season and he's got a lot more to his game than I'd realised before I properly watched him.
It was only a matter of time before his team mates started finding him, and he started finding the net.

I wasn't overly impressed with his signing initially but there was a really good post about him earlier in this thread, which made me step back a bit and give him time to show what he's about.

Now, I'm not sure there's another striker out there who I'd prefer to be leading the line for our team.
He's the perfect player for us.

He’s more like our Firmino I’d say

Firmino was a level (or more) above in terms of touch and creativity, doms not even close on that front no offense meant to him.

But he is great for what we need, itd been a few games since he last registered so was really happy to see him get on the score sheet.

Dom was immense today, time to rework and revisit the "chant"
"Dom solankes f###ing class
Covers every blade of grass
60 million down the drain
Dom Solanke scores again"

Its not about point scoring though is it, im a Spurs fan and want us to win. It Was just my honest opinion at that moment, he did need to do more and he did more today which I am delighted about. Long may it continue.
Absolutely. It's all in good fun mate not looking to score points.

It’s very telling that lots of ex-pros have been raving about his performances before the goals started flowing. They can see just how difficult he is to play against. Elite mentality too.

His second goal he’d dropped back into a defensive midfielder role and had half the team in front of him.
We really can’t break him as he’s putting so much in, especially with no adequate replacement

His running is mental, and it’s good running not headless stuff. He nicked it off I think Torres like 5 mins into injury time, unreal to be still pressing hard at that stage. Delighted he got his two
His second goal is mental, nearly 80!mins in and he’d chased back to a DM position with five or six guys in front of him.
Absolutely mental work rate but worried he’ll eventually up injured as he can’t keep up what he is doing

I think your posts came across more like you were judging him by how much he cost, rather than what he was doing on the pitch.
While I agree that he did need the goals, everything else he was doing was fantastic and the goals were always going to come when he settled into the team more.
It wasn't his fault that he was feeding off scraps for a while but even then, his all round play was well worth the money spent.

Maybe you went too early?

I thought after Kulusevski, he's probably been our best player so far this season. (I thought that before today's game)

I came in here to lavish the praise on him and find that people were slagging him off this week.

It sometimes feels like I'm watching a different game to some of you guys. What the fuck are you doing?

Anyway not to be sidetracked by idiots, people praise his workrate, hold up and pressing but his distribution is also top class, he's the complete striker and perfect for our system. I also think he'll get 20 goals this season, yes he's not as deadly as Kane and Son but who is?

Great signing and not that it really matters but a bargain for me.

The actual worry now is that we are relying on him as much as we relied on Kane. With Richy again possibly injured we kind of have to play him every game.

Vicario, Porro, Romero, VDV, Kulusevski and now Solanke are nailed on starters when fit. (For me)

Last time I commented in this thread I talked about how great his work rate had been but lamented the fact he wasn't getting into goalscoring positions even to have the opportunity to score/miss chances.

Well yesterday he did - and he took them brilliantly. Now averaging one in two for us which is the same rate he's been on since the start of last season.

Magnificent centre forward performance, pressed like an absolute demon, top class finishing on his first goal with that exquisite dink over Martinez and he was well placed when Johnson scored and probably would have got that one if Brennan hadn't. He was in that position once again to convert Richy's cross to score his second to seal the result and was then fouled for Madder's free kick goal. I'm so glad I got last minute exchange tickets in the South Stand and was just a few rows away from the drummer. I heard some fans trying to start up that terrible Solanke song so I offered an alternative and managed to get "Doo do do doo...Dom Solanke" started. Luckily the drummer got involved and the fans around us and before long it was going all around the ground. It was solidified by Dom scoring again soon afterwards and the chant was even stronger after that. I loved that the DJ put the song "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag" on after Freed From Desire. A great example of latching on to something positive, we need to move away from player chants and songs that mention Arsenal and Chelsea and particularly ones with lyrics as shameful as that other Solanke chant was. Hopefully it's dead and buried now and we can move on and let Dom hear the love properly.

Did not want him, didn't like him all because I didnt think he was good enough to take us up a level. The chip showed what a good finisher he can be under pressure after no goals for quite a few games, and that's what we need.

First game I felt that he could be more than a hard worker, and a target man.
