He's hardly going to admit to the other option!
Or we could, you know, believe what the manager says rather than the other option of which we have zero evidence? As has been highlighted multiple times now, Ange is the only manager since Spence has been at the club that has managed to get him playing well and into the side regularly, yet Ange is also the only manager getting pulled over the coals for not doing it sooner (despite the other managers not getting any grief for not even playing him). It's a bit infuriating to be honest.

I can remember several posts criticising past managers for not giving Spence more minutes.

I don't remember any of them getting the sort of stuff thrown at them that Ange has re: Spence though. Maybe there was a bit of criticism but compared to Ange it was nothing. You have to ask why is that? Ange is the only manager we have had since Spence signed that has actually fully integrated him into the team yet he is the one getting the most flack for the Spence situation. It's bizarre.

I blame Conte the most personally.

As soon as he was signed Conte called him a club signing and basically disowned him. What must that have done to his motivation and excitement upon signing? I’m not surprised if his attitude dropped after that.

Anyway, hopefully moving forward he keeps performing well and showing the ability he has. If he carries on like this, I believe he should actually become the first choice RB. His blend of physicality and technical ability give him an edge over Porro (who I also really like).

Deserves a mention for being in the small group of players who had a good match. Loved that run and especially loved the pass in to Solanke that Gabriel put out for a corner. He continues to impress and has cemented himself as a starting contender when everyone's fit, if everyone is ever even fit at the same time again. Probably in for Porro with Destiny on the left.

Absolutely baffling it took for our manager to run Udogie into the ground to basically force himself into using this guy

Been excellent since he got into the team.

It is getting to the point where I am more Spence in than Ange in. I'll go ballistic if he is dropped to the bench when some of the injured players come back.

He has given him game time because of his injury crisis not for any other reason that's what's got my back up and many others. I get he is getting minutes now under Ange but please let's not fool ourselves as to why that's come about. Last season he was sent out on loan... he didn't need development minutes.

Not really saying much since the team is on a disastrous run of form - but on current form he is our best player. Amazing given that he couldn't even get a look in not too long ago.

I must’ve been watching another game. He was good defensively but his reluctance to use his left foot made it very difficult for us to beat their press and get out. 75% of his passes went to Archie Gray.

I'm sure you have a point, but that was also because Arsenal's press was, unfortunately, flawless. And Bissouma seemed to have very little interest helping out in the first half.

I didn’t think tonight was his best game for us although he was still miles better than the majority of the team. What I will say is that he was the most frequently used outlet and the scum targeted him as a right footer playing on the left which made his job very difficult. Why we continued with that strategy despite it causing pressure on us every time is baffling.

I’d hate to be a defender in this team, being asked to play out constantly when the movement up top is akin to a bunch of 80 year olds playing walking football.

he’s isn’t a LB so hard to criticise him for that. I’d much rather he keeps possession and plays safe rather than giving the team that is completely dominating us more of the ball. It’s up to those in front of him to give him better passing options knowing he’s playing out of position

He has been brilliant. He should be our first choice right back when Destiny is fit and we will immediately have a much better defence. Porro has good points but he can't or won't play at full back- always in the wrong place, always allowing the other teams left sided attacker to gather the ball and come running at him.

Him and Udogie when he’s back, Walker and Rose 2.0

Now put a double pivot of Gray and Bergvall ahead of them in midfield, get our CBs back and we can start building from basics.

It was flawless because they set up to ensure that when we were playing out, we had to play it to the left, knowing he wasn’t going to use his left and just play it backwards

It usually works quite well when we have a balanced back 4. The movement up top will inevitably tail off if they know it isn’t coming forward.

I know he’s not but he could at least have set his body position. He was facing our goal every time he received it meaning he had to turn, to go forward. They were on him the moment he got the ball and wouldn’t allow him to turn.
It was like watching Trippier at the Euros all over again.
