Bit of a shame Djed didn't get a few more games in his more natural RB position in pre-season. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing, suggesting the little Ange saw of him at RB was enough to convince him it will work, or whether he was at LB purely because we had no other choice.

Either way I've got a feeling we'll see him play regularly this season. The one thing I love about the 5 subs rule is it gives you a chance to sub your full-backs in almost every game, especially when they cover so much ground like they do in our system. Having one player on the bench who can cover LB and RB is incredibly valuable. In a 50-60 game season there is every chance Djed could make 30 appearances either starting or from the bench.

Saw an unsourced comment the other day to the effect that Matty Wells had championed Spence and that Udogie and Sarr had also been in his corner. Does anyone know if there’s anything to this?

I think it was purely just an experiment, the same with Donley. And based on the fact Donley is out on loan and Djed was poor there, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that there have been recent murmurings of a left back coming in.

Counter point - how many times was Porro subbed last year? Ange seemed more focused on resting forward players than the full backs. Maybe because there's more competition there or because we played once a week - we'll see.

Starting to wonder if Neil Warnock and Antonio Conte, two of the most famously chill people alive, were perhaps a little difficult to work with.

His cover in Emerson was playing at CB a lot though. We may see Porro rested a lot more this time around.

No, I think it's still fair to assume the previous issues are on Spence. Farke also said he was unprofessional too. If Ange can coax that out of him and help him realise his potential then he defo has a future here I hope.

No spence in the Europa squad. What is going on with us. Madness utter madness. Serious questions need to be asked of Ange on this one

Must be willing to play Gray at RB to give him game time. Only thing I can think of. Considering Spence can play RB and LB (albeit very unproven there) it seems an odd decision

Strange decision. But I guess we can't leave Werner out with the dubious injury records we have in attack. Can we change it if Porro god forbid suffers an injury? We need Gray to play in the midfield, IMO. I really think Ange needs to drop Bissouma & sit Gray between the CB's. Would really solve a ton of our issues.

Next time we can make any squad submission changes is in January
