Yeah, I think something must have happened as his attitude seems different. He’s impressed me…needs to keep that attitude going

unwinded if it’s just having a younger bunch of lads around him and their attitude is rubbing off?

Entirely up to Djed now if he wants it or not, his destiny is in his own hands, sink or swim time, Djed.

Thats good to hear - hopefully he has matured and realised that he was about to blow his biggest shot at the big time. Would be great if he was able to turn things around and make his mark.

A bit more detailed quotes from Ange:

"I think with Djed, for me we got him back into pre-season and we’re judging him on his merits. He's a Tottenham player. To be fair to him, I think he's been very, very good for us this pre-season, in terms of the way he's trained and his general attitude," said the Spurs boss. "But a lot of these things are in the players' hands themselves. They kind of decide their own future in many respects and I think Djed is in that boat.

"I think there's an opportunity for him here, for sure. Thinking about building a squad, he would be definitely somebody who could [contribute] with the attributes he has. I thought last year there was a chance but it didn't quite work out. For those kind of things, I think sometimes players really wait for direction when they can really take control of their own direction."

He added: "Djed’s here. He is a Spurs player. He's a very good player who fits into our football and so it's as much about him as it is about me making a decision.

"As you see right now, he's been very good pre-season, he's been very good on the tour. He's impressed all the coaches, not just myself. For some of them it’s the first time they've worked with him and they've all been really impressed with him.

"Maybe he's learned a couple of things over the last couple of years about himself and hopefully we can sort of bear the fruit of that."

Oh I hope this works out! I think Djed is a perfect fit for us, skill-, and physical-wise. Hopefully his head is there aswell now.

That is amazingly candid. Please don’t let this be a false dawn.

Whatever it was that displeased Ange seems to have been ousted which is great news for us. He seems ready made for how we play and keeping him onboard adds to our transfer coffers. Great news.

What great reading. Just hope it’s not another Ndombele. Where it’s one step forward two steps back. Because. He is just as good as Udogie on the right. Imagine those two steaming up the wings.

Putting a couple of things together - but really encouraging for me were the reports a few days ago of Matt Wells working with Spence on defensive positioning. That suggested that Spurs were investing time and energy into Spence, and that Spence was receptive to the coaching - both aspects seemed to show a fresh start for Spence, that he had to earn.

a lot has been made about his attitude.

But I an reading that and thinking this has mostly been about his attitude off the ball on the pitch.

Perhaps he has been too laid back and only animated when on the ball.

Perhaps he's come back and is putting more effort into other aspects of his game and not relying on what he can do with it.

He'll get games too. We won't have to play Porro in the Europa if we can play Spence there etc. So it really is up to him and his ability/attitude going forward.

Ange literally spelled out the concerns with Djed before and how he's progressing now, like you said, incredibly frank!

Ange seems much less reserved now vs. first preseason game, very encouraging.
