Don’t know what P.O’Keefe is on about. I’m hearing they want Emerson gone. I’m hearing they want to work with Spence. He is very close to a few, especially Udogie. And it is felt Italy was the making of him. If you want to learn to be a defender-go to Italy.
I'm sure I said it about Ndombele (and was wrong, obviously) but some guys take longer to grow up than others. Spence is still only 24, maybe the year in Italy turned his light on. Would be lovely if it were the case.

Actually refreshing to hear, the part about who they want to leave.

What a bonus this would be if he truly is hungry and motivated. Talent wise he could become a regular starter, and a home-grown one to boot. Worth giving him a shot with Emerson likely leaving and Archie Gray also being able to cover the position.

Now need to find a solution on the other side. The links to Locko and Dorgu sound good to me.

Obviously, it's fantastic if he's matured and learned and is impressing. As has been pointed out plenty, he has all the physical tools you'd want in a player and the question mark was if he would put it all together. Being homegrown gives us some good flexibility moving forward, too.

Not to count chicks before they hatch, but if he does earn a squad spot, how is he covering at LB? Would he be a realistic option for cover on that side or more of an emergency option?

Conversations, attitude, work ethic, training matches, training, 2 matches... that's enough to show he's taking things seriously.

It's enough to give an idea of his trajectory
I'll be waiting for a bit more than that before I'll be convinced he has a future with us - don't get me wrong, I really hope he can sort it out and become an option because it would be a great help in terms of squad building.

He played a lot at LWB for Genoa last season and seemed to do OK.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Spence covering both sides especially in Europa league games he has the pace to be able to get back and cover even on his wrong side

If he has sorted his head out that is really fantastic news. Having a fast, skilful, young HG right back with plenty of room to grow is excellent for squad balance. Obv needs to improve parts of his game especially on the defensive side but if he has the drive and focus to do so I reckon he could be an excellent option for us.

This pleased me inordinately: love a good redemption story.

Emerson goes, Spence as back up to Porro. Gray purely a midfield player, Skipp can be sold.
Great if this can happen, all the ducks in a row. Gil in talks. Just Reggie and Lo Celso to sort.
Sure that someone will have Lo Celso , about same sort of fee as Pierre.
Thats what you call a clear out.

Isn't POK also saying they want to work with Spence?

I’m all for people knuckling down and proving themselves hopefully this is one of those things and it’s inspirational to young kids starting out too. Go on Djed. Push on lad.

If things have clicked with him now, that can only be a good thing.
If he's buckled down and can perform to his potential, that makes our squad building a whole lot easier as he can cover both left and right.

It's in his hands now but he's never going to get a better chance than now.

Spence and Udogie bullying their opposition wingers on each of their respective flanks, I’m here for it.

And there's also the fact that he can run a lot faster than Emerson!

Interesting/exciting development. I’m here for the redemption arc.

It’s this sort of thing that makes the PL so fascinating and absorbing. People who don’t “get” football don’t understand all of the backstory, narrative, plot, etc.

We love a redemption arc. From a transfer perspective does this free up money for else where now we won’t be looking at a RB?
