Probably his last crack at it here with us and maybe the prem in general.
i'm rooting for him

Yeah - I think Ange probably already know if he wants Spence here this season or not - based training, and other off-the-pitch stuff. Today was great to see from the fan's perspective - but not sure it changes anything for Ange.I’d like to see him do this against stronger opposition before I get excited. We’ve been trying to move him on for a while now, I don’t see that changing after a very good showing against Hearts.
You have to love pre season for the mass over reactions based on next to fuck all.I’d like to see him do this against stronger opposition before I get excited. We’ve been trying to move him on for a while now, I don’t see that changing after a very good showing against Hearts.
Plus I believe he can play on left if neededWould solve 2 issues if he stays to be rotation RB spot.
We get a RB back up who is home grown and also lets gray play CM more than RB back up.
That’s the most effort I’ve seen him make since he’s been here. You have to love pre season for the mass over reactions based on next to fuck all.
He had a good game against opposition our kids dismantled, and he will need to do far more than that to turn the tide. Let's see where he is in a few weeks and judge it then.
Good start though.
I think the point is we all know he has the physical attributes and talents to be an asset. It’s always been about the desire and attitude. That seemed better than previous. I think all hope the penny has dropped but know it probably hasn’t!You have to love pre season for the mass over reactions based on next to fuck all.

If the quality and performances is there then my concern is about his ability to cope with not being picked every game or for a number of games. If he can put in performances like when he comes on as a sub or gets a single game he would be worth keeping.I think the point is we all know he has the physical attributes and talents to be an asset. Why is that though? He's yet to have a manager that have faith in him and give him some games though, so just hope he get that chance through this pre season and that he show good attitude
It would never just be for the sake of it though would it. There would be an actual reason or reasons for letting him go.Let's not sell homegrown englishman cheaply to Italy just for the sake of it, because he'll be back in another year and be a competent RB/RWB that's easily worth 20 mil.
I'd rather ship out Emerson, who is worse, on higher wage, and valued higher
What I would add is that the reason I hold some hope is more because of his showings for Genoa rather then anything he did last night. Once he had fully adapted he was much more comfortable putting in the hard yards especially in regards to tracking back. Yes he still needed work but his performances were a lot more rounded and he actually seemed to care. I don't really remember much shrugging and trotting back. Obviously one can't read too much into that and maybe he was just putting in effort as he was in the shop window but at least there were positive signs. You are completely spot on that in the grand scheme of things playing well against Hearts means very little but I do also think the fact he traveled at all and was given one half of football is encouraging.I would never just be for the sake of it though would it. There would be an actual reason or reasons for letting him go.
Lets look at this objectively. He had a very good game last night, but that game was totally set up for him to do well. Spence has always had bags of ability, but ability alone isn't enough. He looks great going forward, but then he always has. This has never really been in question. Lets so how he does when he has to keep making recovery runs, and getting up and down the pitch over and over again. Lets see if he can consistently get to training on time and not sulk when things aren't going his way. For me what he did was put himself back on Ange's radar last night but he will have to keep doing that and more besides for us to see a Djed Spence Spurs redemption story.
