He really needs to get his head down now and fight for his place. He's not just a talented kid any more so all of the wastefulness in his play, petulance on the pitch, patchy form and disciplinary issues have to be ironed out. He won't be getting game after game any more, so when he does get on the pitch he simply has to deliver. Not sure how he'll react to that pressure - could obviously go either way.

Was just looking back through the thread to see if anyone mentioned the condescending glance he gave Jose as he was coming on. My Dad noticed it and so did I, we weren't watching it together. Certainly looked like a 'you prick' glance before running on imo.

Yeah I think I mentioned it in the match thread. He didn’t really look like he was listening to his manager.

I have no sympathy with him at all. He is on £100,000 weekly. He needs to stop his posturing and start earning his salary.

Dele must now realise his place in the team isn’t guaranteed, and more importantly that the team can achieve impressive attacking heights without him on the pitch.

He will absolutely have to adapt his game (probably playing in a deeper CM role) if he wants to get back in the first choice 11. He has the talent. I’m not sure if he has the mentality.

The fact is that his game hasn't developed whatsoever since he first broke through, which indicates a lack of desire to improve his game or move on to the next level. It's the difference between the good players and the great players. Look at the way Kane has developed compared to Dele in the same timeframe.

He seemingly became more interested in his off-field career, with his fashion line, property investments etc and let his level drop. The reason Jose has fazed him out is because he's spent all summer bringing in players with great, professional attitudes, leaders who want to prove themselves, yet here's Dele thinking he's already made it. Needs to get his head down and start from the bottom again.

Looks to be applying himself well and unlucky to not score.

If he was playing for many fergie though that 70’s porn tash and blonde highlights perm would be getting shaved right off ?but in all seriousness I like dele but this kind of look sums him up a bit at the moment, just go back to dele of 3 years ago please, have a shave, get a hair cut, splash some water on your face and knuckle down because you’re a world class talent dele but you need to have a world class attitude and work ethic like Kane, son etc.

Dele still has a big role to play for us but it’s down to him.

I’m nor really a fan of Dele but what a shit take ?

Might as well have just said uppity

He is at best a squad player these days and no way that he can deal with that (and with a manager who openly calls him out), I expect him to leave in the summer of 2021.

I also doubt whether there is much fight and love for the game left in him.

Can’t remember the game, but was the same on previous game he came on as a sub. Mourinho or someone was slapping his stomach with instructions and it looked very awkward distant reception from him

I remember thinking that he looked off, but I cant place it.

The body language didn’t look right between him and Mourinho when Mourinho was giving him some instructions
Couldn't remember it, so went back to see for myself. And yeah, doesn't look good, does it?

Talented boy but too much off the field focus. As well as that he slows down our play and doesn’t fit our current preferred 4-3-3 system too well as a support striker, if he can adapt his game and improve his effort and focus he has enough talent to hit huge heights again, let’s see.

We’ve seen how Ndombele has been transformed, that’s what we need from Dele, if not it will be a long season for him.

What's worrying is that he was saying that in the Amazon documentary, so if Dele hasn't bucked his ideas up since then, I can't see him lasting long at Spurs.

Seems like this was the timeline

JM "Dele, they tell me you are fucking lazy"
DA "Lol"
JM "Dele you need to work harder. Life goes fast"
DA "I know yeah"
JM "Dele, you need to be more motivated"
DA "I know"
JM "Dele, you aren't in the squad"
DA "I don't understand"

Seems fair enough really. Talented lad but I think we all know and have seen it's a problem for a while. Tends to happen to a lot of lads who start their career young.

I wasn’t overly impressed by his game against LASK. He did ok. Not awful. But application-wise, he still seemed to be playing without much vim and verve. Dare I say, even a little bit indifferent. I was hoping to see a visceral reaction from him. A point to prove. But his body language indicates something else. More like he is offended and annoyed and can’t understand why he is being treated this way.

TBH, I am very disappointed in him. I'm abit regretful now that I'm so against him being sold during the window. He should have gone. He doesn't seem to have pulled up his socks and yet when I saw his IG stories are still so childish of smacking people's head and laughing about, I kinda give up.

If he thinks his game is still about nutmegging opposition every now and then, pulling off some flicks and scoring something great, he will not even find the bench familiar. Buck up ffs.

The last thing I ever want is him being a negative influence in the squad.

I'm just relieved that Jose decided enough was enough and stopped trying to persevere with him.

He gave him half a season to prove himself on the pitch and his commitment off it. He didn't excel at either and, rather than keep doing more of the same, he did what was best for the team and put the onus on Alli to fit into the team, rather than the team to fit around him.

I think us dropping him and bringing in Ndombele/Lo Celso in his place is a huge part of our improvement this year along with the vital additions of Reguilon and Hojbjerg. Those 3 factors have done so much for us as a team.

I suppose also he thinks he have earned enough for himself this lifetime and is just enjoying life as a priority of purpose now.
