Well, I suppose there are some things you need to experience to know it. It's capitalism on roids. ?. Might not be to your fancy, but considering Dubai's economy is centred on tourism, takes the fancy of a lot of others.
Definitely not my fancy. Each to their own.

Not great on human right's is it but why would people want to talk about that when they can talk about Dele pointing the camera at a China man while mentioning Corona virus !

That maybe true, how does that affect tourism?

Besides, every place has their crutch, which is used to then beat up that country with. Case in point, the us and their warmongering. However, that does not stop folks from visiting them as a country.

Full disclosure, and I am sure you must have guessed as much, I live in Dubai, and no, I am not a local. I do have a soft spot for it however, and that's after having lived in North America, Europe, Asia and the middle East.

With a million Uighurs imprisoned for 're-education' its REAL hard to sympathise if China is genuinely offended by the Dele vid .

I'm guessing the chinese government don't give a shit what dele does but potential spurs fans/people in general on social media do.

I had no idea about any of this until it "blew up" on the various news outlets. The joys of not following a footballer's every move on social media.

It's a silly thing to do, but talk of a potential ban is just ridiculous.

He is 23. Plays football.

I'd have been banned 100 times over by now in his situation. So would most of you. Just a lad being a lad. Throw all the sjw outrages you can at him, he's just a normal bloke.

If this is how life is going, bring in the thought police and ban anyone that dares make a jest at anything remotely controversial from everything.

Bore off.

Absolutely right. I doubt many here or in general society can claim to have never made an insulting joke privately which would’ve been inappropriate public ally.

I do find it ludicrous how players can get banned for off field matters which aren’t breaking the law, no doubt he’ll get banned as Silva did

It was a poor taste, unfunny joke from an immature person, but talk about taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Players will need permission to breathe next.

The only difference between him and most of us is that no-one in the wider world cares what we say whereas players are under constant scrutiny. Social media is a minefield and within the mainstream media, there is a readiness to publish shock horror headlines to any of us who don't generally use social media which then amplifies the situation. Players need to be careful.

There is a difference though you can't ignore. If you, me or anybody else here puts up a stupid video or makes a comment on social media we know that nobody really will see it or care. If you are Dele you know that everything you do online will be scrutinized by the media - he will even have had training on this. For him to put up dumb stuff to enable the media to latch onto it is absolutely fucking stupid and irresponsible in a way that we will never have to worry about.

Whether or not it was a tasteless joke is up for debate, as it's something which is completely subjective. But what rule has Dele breached to allow the FA to impose any penalty on him?

I don't understand what power the FA is exercising and better yet, why the FA has such powers if it does indeed possess them. Dele at that moment is a normal person, waiting to board a plane. It is inconceivable that he should be punished for expressing himself, however poorly that was received. It wasn't a racist remark or anything which constitutes a criminal offence in any jurisdiction (in so far as I'm aware). Therefore, it's utter bollocks and we should get some lawyers on the case to fight this FA arbitrariness.

Agree. But at the same time, it is media driven. Brainwashing the masses into outrage. Dele is a footballer, not a qualified politician or someone whose 'opinion' or humour really matters to anyone.

It's similar for me, of the Hollywood wankers who think their opinions actually mean anything. They don't. They are actors, professional pretenders.

It does show epic levels of naivety from Dele. But that's only because we live in a strange era of instant outrage and finger pointing. If most sat back and really considered that he is a football player, nothing more then it suddenly becomes far less interesting than say, if the home.sectetary said that 'all Chinese people have the lurgy'.

Good player is Dele......

The media outlets have bombarded us with a particular style of reporting followed by imagery in sequence the words Coronavirus then Chinese / Asian people in a region... Is the media racist?

Dele is still growing up he is an impressionable lad, imo he total misjudged saw the error of his way and quickly apologised.
