a lot of people creaming themselves over players who haven’t or probably will not do anywhere near what Dele has done for this football club and he has so many detractors...makes my mind boggle how as soon as he has a bad performance everyone is in here slagging him off, he comes on and changes the game and those people don’t show the same energy?

Are we Spurs fans or fans of being proven right on the internet?

He pretty much does play like that 7 times out of 10.

If you think so that's your opinion. From what I see is him needlessly giving the ball away or struggling to do the simple things. Not what I want from my cm or am.

Today he kept the ball and simplified things and played well.

I'm not a fan of his playing style, of course I support him as he plays for us but I get frustrated with his midfield play. If he plays like how he did today 7 times out of 10 I wouldn't have an issue with him.
asking a lot for a player to set up two goals in 30 minutes 70% of the time he plays.

Tonight is what he should be restricted to, super sub. That is basically his role. Alli had a good cameo but he's still awful 90% time he plays. Same with Moura, I know he scored but they just aren't good enough.

lol, like what the hell is this post? He played well, made a difference, and we are through to the next round. Yet, this is what you post, right now?

well thats what he did today. I was a tad glib but he wasnt just good for 30 minutes today - he took the game by the scruff of the neck.

And I'm very glad he did as we needed it, what I'm saying is that a lot of the times he gives the ball away a lot and is careless in possession. And it's not what I like to see from a midfielder, especially one that we more or less have to build the team around.

So maybe as I have suggested previously he should be played in the front 3 as a tucked in forward, or as a few others have suggested as a false 9.

I just don't like when he's in midfield and not even able to make simple passes.

he has played as a forward frequently under mourinho. with all the changes and my crappy feed I couldnt tell what the set up was at tghe end.

This is exactly it.

This is frankly mind boggling. Dele is bad the majority of the time and has been for nigh on two years. It really isn’t being unduly harsh by saying he has largely underperformed badly for a long period of time. What on Earth have you been watching to say otherwise?

Week in week out he generally is pretty shit bar about five games when Jose took over. Yes he scores the odd goal or two which he bloody well should do considering he does little else. He’s easily the most upgradable player in our attack and you’d have to bury your head deep in the sand to think he isn’t. It’s not like we’ve made it up, he’s been dropped from the England squad directly because he’s been poor for so long.

That is just a blatant lie.
There's no point going into details with you it's obviously clear what you think.

Question. Was you one of the fans spouting we're a better team without Harry Kane. McTommany is a better player than Harry Winks?

If you are correct why did Poch and now Mourinho keep selecting him ? Perhaps they see more in him and his game than you do ? He scores plenty of goals for a midfielder and creates plenty as well. If our other midfielders had more awareness perhaps they would spot him in the space he finds for himself more often. Hoping Ndombele and Lo Celso with help us improve in this regard.

What Dele did last night was keep it simple. He found a pocket of space and played a first time ball for both of our goals. Ok, he did meg the ref and then back flick it to Gedson in the build up, but in the final third he just kept it simple. Jose needs to get more one touch exercises going in training as Son and Moura could also benefit from passing it simple as well!

That cameo last night will give Jose a few things to think about. I wonder if we'll see him further forward in the next game.

Totally agree. His form dropped off under Poch back in March when he came back form his hamstring injury into a diamond formation and had to play deeper, and he really needs to be one of the front three. In Kane's absence we should play him as a false 9 with 2 of our speedsters either side of him.
