I have said a few times now that Dele Alli needs some time playing in centre midfield to get back involved in the game. The Great thing about Frank Lampard was he got involved, we need Alli to more of that when things aren't going his way.

If his hamstrings are as shot as they appear to be, then he's never going to get a run of games.
Poch (or whoever eventually replaces him) will have to manage him from game to game.

Fair enough you're entitled to your opinion. Can I just say liability is way too strong, I'm honestly not trying to make excuses for him but he was injured for a long time the team isn't playing that well throughout and I feel he need time...just my opinion.

I hope you're right, it would only be of benefit to the club. I just don't see it.

I do get snippets from time to time re Dele. My mate who used to play with him at MK, was at an MK Dons game with him the other week during international break. Dele said this is this 4th injury in the same hamstring and he knows he hasn't been fully fit for the last 12 months. He also said whilst the money has been great, re sponsorship deals outside of football, he knows this may have played a part in him getting injured. Due to having to travel to X,Y,Z on his days off, rather than just chilling and he wants to cut down on all of that stuff outside of football. Nothing groundbreaking I know, but thought I'd pass on.

I know he was never fast, but has he got even slower, literally looked like the slowest guy on the pitch, when you are getting outpaced by Sule you have to worry

Goalscoring attacking midfielder making runs into the box, and doesn't attempt dribbles / tricks? That's the part of Lampard's game I was referring to.
I agree, that's all he needs to do. Keep it simple keep possession, then break into the box when the opportunity allows. THis was peak Dele.

We need technically good players, players that can win games it not all about fighting and running about. Sorry to call out Son again but he made runs got into position was found each time however missed a lot was he clinical enough no but did score. Dele was running pressing and contributed well in the first half up until the game got the better of him in the second half.
He clearly needs more games, to be honest, I'm happy that his been slowly coming back rather than just thrown into the team as before and getting injured again. Moura came on Lamela came on there wasn't much difference (not blaming them) . BM killed us
But what good are technical players when you don't have the ball? We fell apart last night and didn't see the ball for quite a while after it went to 4-2. Did we need Eriksen and Dele then, even though they saw nothing of the ball? Or did we need someone pressing them, fighting, making challenges, putting them under pressure?

He always played in the line behind Kane.

Well someone better tell Poch, Alli and Tottenham Hotspur that he never played deeper for us, and against United he played brilliantly for someone so young, and was getting stuck in.

He always played in the line behind Kane.

Alli started playing central midfield and Dembele played behind Kane. A bit in to a game against Arsenal, early in the season, Poch switched their positions and from that moment he always played dembele behind. Thats how I remember it.

Edit:

"Pochettino started with Alli as the No8 and Dembélé as the No10 but he switched them after the early running and both could reflect upon outstanding displays."

One of the games I was most impressed by him in his early days was when he played alongside Dier in a 4-2-3-1 when we trashed City 4-1. Dembele was injured. He played a mature and sensible game, completely void of tricks and flicks, and never left Dier out to dry by bombing on to try and get a goal for himself. He showed great maturity that day.

Then there was the 16/17 season where he was kinda quiet until we changed to 3-4-3 (or rather 3-4-1-2, seeing as Eriksen wandered about and Alli was more or less playing as a striker) and got those 20 goals.

That season is almost like an albatross around his neck these days, because he's generally been playing as more of an 8 in the last two seasons and often done so very well, but as long as he's not scoring at the same rate as in 16/17, then even some of our own fans (who one presumes watches the games) moan.

2019 hasn't been good to him, but taking injuries and the team in general being all over the shop into account, there should be some patience.

Personally think its a bit of a catch 22 with Dele at the minute. He clearly needs game time to be able to get back to full fitness and match sharpness however the current state of our club means that every bad performance from players is getting heavily scrutinized by our fans. There is no way that he has become a terrible player and anyone who understands football can see that being played out of position for the last year and the injuries has taken a huge hit on his confidence.

If we can get Dele back to his best then we still have one hell of a player on our hands.

Similar to Jesse Lingaard who has gone right off the boil. Not that he was as good as Alli. Strangely enough, both of them have been involved with their own clothing ranges.
If Alli doesn’t play off the front man I don’t see a position for him with us or England.
I think his England squad place is definitely in jeopardy as they seem to stick to 4-3-3 and his only place there is on the left of a midfield 3, Barkley currently has this position but Alli not really suited to it and there are others likely to take that place.
How Barkley has started 7 out of last 10 England games beats me.
