His movement is elite, and he's just about the only player other than Son that constantly makes intelligent runs in behind. For the sake of balance, he has to play. And his overall game is better than many give him credit for, I'd say. Many of his best games have come as an 8 doing "midfield stuff" such as winning possession and progressing the ball.
He's the opposite of what you have stated above, in my honest opinion.

If someone were to make a 40M bid for him, would you want the club to accept the money and boot him out, or do you value him a lot higher or do you think he is priceless?

Personally, I'm not his biggest fan. He's a luxury player that needs the right support to shine. We don't have it. So, a lot of the time, he flounders. So, yes, as unpopular as it may sound, I wouldn't be opposed to letting him for a min of 40M.

Although clearly I'm not his biggest fan I don't think we are in a position to be selling any of our forward players and should be looking at bringing more options in.

Apart from Son we do not have anyone that frightens the back four with pace and the ability to beat a man and that is clearly lacking. Lamela and Lo Celso are very samey and with Eriksen going we will lose a creative midfielder. I think there are games where Dele's strengths can be an asset but just not as a guaranteed starter.

Tim Cahill scored goals too. Alli will always score goals, but he will also fuck up the system and his all round game is totally shit, the goals do not justify that. We should aim to sign players who score but also contibute to an effective system and a fully balanced side.

Look at teams like Leicester, Liverpool, City to see well balanced systems at work. Alli fits in at none of those sides. No top side would start him. If you put Alli in the Leicester side they would lost a ton of fluidity, and basically be much worse.
Absolutely this. He’s a lazy play ground / street footballer who happens to be tall and can finish but he doesn’t fit into a system.
id rather we played 4-3-3 and no n.o 10 OR we played lo celso or while he’s still here erisken in n.o 10, both far better options.

I'm not suggesting Mourinho had an option, I am talking about moving forward. If we are still planning on keeping Alli as a key part of our side next season we are fucked. The club should be planning for life without him, but we won't be.
Spot on as usual mate :)

100% I’d be taking £40m all day every day and running to the hills with it.
He’s not good enough and he’s a twat, if I was manager I’d not want him in my best XI or near the squad.

one of my least favourite ever spurs players, his attitude fucking stinks quite frankly.

His game is predominantly about getting in and around the box. Making clever runs, being there on the end of things. If he has time and space in and around the box can also pull a half decent pass at times. The deeper he goes, the more ineffectual he gets and actually hinders the team. He isn't a particularly good player there as his all round game isn't up to it.

Trying to think what kind of player Mourinho has had in the past that is similar to Alli. Some people have mentioned Lampard but not for me. Lampard had better passing and intelligence/awareness in midfield and obviously excellent in terms of knowing when and what space to attack further up the pitch. Alli playing deeper just looks lost.

So you have answered the main issue within your own point. Lesser players fail to adapt to other styles and tactics.

Dele can play one way and one position. Thanks for your support and have a good night.
I thought he played in the England team that got to the world cup semi final. Must have been poor world cup.

How he didn’t get a penalty here. Mike Dean really is one isn’t he!

I thought it was soft initially but I think that's a pen too. Especially when you look at say, what Deulofeu got against Chelsea for instance. Not that I care mind, we got what we deserved after serving up that steaming pile of shit performance.

Theres major confidence issues which are affecting all the players.

I dont feel the defense are confident with the GK or the midfield.

The attack is not confident with the midfield etc etc.

Until we put in dominant midfield performances consistently, get a quality GK between the sticks this will continue on and on.

We've got 5 players who are top draw and another 2 young players that I feel are fantastic prospects. So all is not lost but we badly need investment now, but we cant afford to make mistakes with recruitment. As we know the pot us only so big.

Good post and I agree we have a lot of issues, a lot.
Even agree that some of those I listed arent good enough but we have some top quality players, Alli being one of them, and as you said we're going through a rough patch at the moment that may or may not get better but wishing away those best players for money to take a gamble on someone is not the answer. Strengthening our weaknesses is.
