I was amazed Deki got on to it, and that Gvardiol didn't get there first to clear.

Great ball from Dragusin and fantastic tenacity from Deki.
That goal was a Balkan affair:

Romanian -> North Macedonian/Swede who outfought a Croatian.

The tactics were from a Greece born Australian.

Disappointed you didn't find a Balkan great grandmother for Maddison who actually scored the goal. ;)

It's easy to forget how much success we had playing Eriksen off the wing. Even for a period with Modric on the wing it worked until we found more joy with him in a central 2. I wouldn't rule out Kulusevski on the right. I still think his best games have come with Maddison around. I think City away, Utd away and Brentford at home have been our best 3 performances of the season. 2 with him central and this 1 on the right. We just need to get Porro on the overlap more and allow Kulusevski and Maddison to be close together.

I think overall the balance looks best with Sarr in a central 2 but we look so good with Maddison and Kulusevski together. This is where the inverted fullbacks doesn't work well for me. I think having Kulusevski, Maddison and Son occupy those central attacking areas and having the fullbacks provide the width is the way forward.

Harry gets a lot of shit, football mindedly wise. But he made Modric, handled his signing perferctly, born in Croatia, made in Tottenham. He had a lot of teams after him but they seen him as to small and weak. Fair play to Harry.

Goal magazine recently published a top 25 list of Spurs best players of this century.

Deki has a good chance of getting in the top 5, if he continues to improve, avoid major injuries and stays with us a few more years.

He has the right mentality.

Has to be in the running for PFA player of the season at this rate. Hopefully we can win a domestic/european pot to go with it.

Just becoming an absolute monster of a player.

Modric signed for Ramos, but I think was by and large a club (Levy) signing. Was done in April before the summer window even opened. We had just won the mighty Carling Cup under Juande and moved quickly to beat a host of teams to his signing.

I remember Ramos played him as the deep lying midfielder (or 6 as we say now). Redknapp came in and wanted him pushed further forward so played him inside left. I think the concern was his physique in the league. Then in time he was trusted in a central 2. I'm not sure Kulusevski will ever play in a central 2 but I guess he was essentially the 8 in midfield when Maddison also started so who knows. I think his and Sarrs energy is so important and Solanke up front for that matter. I can understand why Ange wanted another like that in Gallagher. It then allows us to keep Kulusevski further forward where he's so influential.

Lloris ahead of modric, dembele and alli? :ROFLMAO:

Id have something like

1. Kane
2. Bale
3. Modric
4. King
5. Dembele

for me kulu is nowhere near the levels yet that these top 5 guys set consistently but we'll see

That idiot Italian journo who said Deki was useless is looking a right fool now.
He even came back after his initial first criticism with a "told you so" when Deki had a bit of bad form end of last season.

So he's actually been made to look like a fool twice.

Still blows my mind how people couldn't see how good he is only a few months ago. Sure, he's gone up a level but he still had days where he was utterly superb and dominated 2 players at a time, all we needed to see was more consistency.

How is he not our captain?

It’s at the point where it’s beginning to become a bit odd.

As is the irony of him not being in the ‘Leadership’ group!

Maybe with Vicario out he might get added to the group. I think the issue is you don't want to undermine those who are named as captain and vice captain.

I would assume, given ange sees everything behind the scenes, that deki isn't vocal in the changing room, or on the training pitch etc? Maybe he has no interest in being a captain? Hes more of a player who lets his effort do the talking, you don't see him on the pitch geeing up the fans or the players on the pitch.

Son is captain and Ange won’t be stripping him of it until he leaves. Simple as that. Deki will be in the running at that time, no doubt.
