This might be an unpopular opinion but I thought Deki was very good in Ange's system at spells. There was a stretch of like 4/5 games (not much I know) where I would go as far as saying he was our best player. My problem was more the lack of consistency. Seemed like Ange liked him quite a lot last season tho, doesn't make much sense to sell him imo since I doubt we will get a big offer anyways

You are looking at stats and figures like that is what is most important. It isn't.
yet you can't ignore what he can contribute and has contributed and the need for replacement. only bringing in e.g. Neto is not enough if you look at the whole squad

I like him but would make sense to move him on if a good offer comes in.

Realistically, the only players we could command relatively handsome fees for in order to balance the books, who are also upgradable, would be Kulusevski, Richarlison and to an extent Bentancur.

To comply with PSR, at some point we have to make big sales. And if that allows us to replace with a HG option such as Eze, it's a no brainer.

I thought we would be at least PSR compliant without having to sell players?

Think Kulu is better suited to a league like the Bundesliga - that’s probably about his level where he can excel and become more consistent. Leverkusen, Dortmund or Frankfurt could suit him well and provide the environment with less pressure to play his best football.

Shame, Deki could work in the system if he was played centrally, he's absolutely not a wide man. I understand why the club would want to move him on, it just sucks to see us unable to bring out the best in a clearly very talented footballer.

I really don’t get why we bought him if he wasn’t in the long term thinking. With the finance issues in Europe, it’ll be difficult to get a buyer to pay us what we paid

I don't think we're actively trying to sell Kulusevski, that'd be crazy, I think it's been mentioned that only if we recieve a good offer, we'd consider it. Which is fair. They'll probably be a few in this area. Basically anyone who hasn't nailed down a starting spot.

Personally, like Richarlison, I think he has a lot still to offer us. (But maybe not so much on the wing)

Despite being "not fit the system" he is our 3rd highest goal scorer last season. Replacing Deki with someone like Neto does not make our squad much stronger. What we should do is to get rid of deadwoods like Gil and Lo Celso and signing Neto/Eze/Doue with Deki going down the pecking order.
Not good enough at RW, terrible when played off the left, unconvincing centrally and a gamble if he could play as a frontman. Too inconsistent and doesn’t have a natural position that he could own. Having said that I can’t see anyone coming in for him at the sort of money we paid.

I think the way we should play it is the following. Move on the players we definitely need to move on, sign 2 attacking players regardless of any additional outs, and a defender to replace Davies. If we get a good bid for Kulu then do the deal. Then depending on bids for Richy either bank the cash for a striker next season or upgrade on Richy this summer.

If we get 2 more quality attackers we can do without Kulu, but if Richy goes obviously we have to replace him this summer.

I just hope something like this wouldn't hold up our ability to get the 2 top attacking players that we need.

It's not that simple. How many times have we held onto players for various reasons that we have then struggled to shift?

I know when folks keep saying Levy has to change, what they actually mean is "spend more money". Fact is we have to change everything about how we do transfer business, and that includes working out when the optimum time to sell is.

You need to question how much will he play when we have finished the window. Will it be enough that he holds value or will every club next summer know he's just a bit part player for us that we will just loan out for a couple of seasons until his contract expires.

I've not said we are pushing him out btw, only that if the right offer comes in we will entertain it.

So how does a club make a player "available" for a transfer?

It’s similar to Game of Thrones. A large dinner is held after ravens (emails) are sent to any and all clubs deemed as a potential suitor. The figureheads (chairmen/women) of all the football clubs interested come to the affair with their best offers. A good Transfer Dinner Party is judged by the amount of book-cooking and erroneous player swap deals offered.

It’s quite a sad conundrum to have because he plays better in that position than out wide, but if we are getting Eze it makes no sense to keep him and allow his value to drop. He would essentially be third choice in that role.
probably 4th if Bergvall is as talented as expected

Nice touch on the 1st goal tonight but largely anonymous. Bergval looked raw but much more progressive and wanting the ball.

Exactly this. People are talking like he is being touted around. I very much doubt that. It’s more that he is dispensable if we get a suitable offer - although I doubt we’ll get a suitable offer so he’ll stay as a high quality squad player.

It would have to be a hell of an offer from a top club for him to want to move imo.
