I'm far more of a Sanchez defender than others (or he is - made the joke for you) but that was a bad game from him.

A thing you can see in our targeting Skriniar and getting Rodon and a thing Poch clearly spent all of his time last year trying to coach around is all of Dier, Sanchez and Toby are bad on the left of the center back. Poch went with Toby when he had to for Toby's smarts but his lack of pace and regression means he has to be on the right. Sanchez has the pace but is worse in possession than Dier or Toby and putting a worse possession player on their weaker foot is going to end bad. Dier is better than Sanchez but worse at decision making And game reading than Toby so you leave yourself open there and you can see it in how Dier gives away dumb fouls.

I really hope Rodon comes in and makes that LCB role his because we need it and then it just becomes a battle for the RCB role from the 3 Mousekateers. Still I'm not terribly confident in any of them right now.

He was so good all game then fucks up.

Doesn’t have good enough mentality and has been here long enough, needs to be sold and refreshed as soon as possible.

I didn’t think he was good all game. He scared me from the first min when he did a stupid foul on Antonio.

£30m 3 years ago he hasn’t improved. There’s a reason we bought a centre back

Yeah I’m not going to pin this defeat down to him as he was one of many, but agree he isn’t any better than he was during his first season.

Even if he’s still relatively young it’s not unreasonable to expect progress in his game.

He just doesn’t fill me with any confidence when watching him on the pitch.

I’ve really tried to see it but I’m sorry it just doesn’t appear that he’s developed at all since we signed him.

The major worry for me is his positioning. He seems to get caught in awkward positions in the box or the wrong side of a player trying to turn him. Maybe it’s him not sorting his feet out but I’ve noticed that since the first season and it’s not got any better.

I’m pretty concerned about our centre back options to be honest. I don’t really rate any of them. Even Toby looks shaky these days.

Hopefully Rodon is decent.

Im a fan of Davinson, but he could very much do with some time out. Hes seemingly going backwards (certainly not forwards at least) and if Dele rightly gets to sit on the naughty step for a similar reason then so should he. Fingers crossed Rodon and Tanganga can slot back in nicely with Toby and Dier.

He is far to easy to unsettle and when that happens, his game goes to pot. As though his brain scrambles and just leads to him looking a nervous wreck during the game.

Total fucking liability. Too many mistakes every game. Gave the ball away in the first 30 seconds with a horrendous ball, and the signs looked bad from the start.

It ain't all his fault though. Toby is too slow, and Aurier and Sissoko struggle to stay disciplined enough to give him real protection.
Sanchez and Toby just shouldn't be played in a back 4 together imo.

I hate giving up on players, but Sanchez needs to go. Has not improved at all since he arrived. Just not good enough, especially if we have greater ambitions as a club. Jose needs to be ruthless.

I hope ledley performs a miracle on Sanchez soon. Else we need to move on

Consistent nervy body language CAN affect the team especially in the GK and CB position. You can get away if you are a winger blowing hot and cold. Not in a spinal position of a team.
