Struggled to find this thread which is surprising given his recent goal.

But my question is where does this transfer window leave Scarlett. He was already only picking up loose minutes from Richarlison coming back and Solanke being out. Now that Tel has been signed is he likely to pick up any minutes?

I would think so, I reckon we'll mainly be seeing Tel on either wing.
I know that he sees himself as a striker eventually but he's got all the ability that we're currently missing out wide, plus it'll be easier to settle into the league for a young player.
Up front in his own I think he'll get bullied a bit yet.

I'm sure Richy will be injured again before too long and given our luck this year no doubt others will. Hopefully he picks up minutes in the cup and as sub and gains from the experience.

I agree with your notion that he'll get bullied up top but I'm thinking seeing how both Son and Richie play LW and CF and you have Moore, capable on both wings, Deki who can play RW. Odobert and Johnson due back within 10 days. Where are these minutes coming from

If we somehow stay in all the cups then he will get plenty of minutes late on in games to rotate the frontline.

You're familiar with the 2024-25 injury curse of Tottenham Hotspur?

Ideally, I'd probably be playing him on the right, with Deki through the middle because Johnson doesn't affect the game enough and Deki is better in the middle.
Moore is better off the left but is still very young, so we do need to be careful with him.

While Richy can play on the left, it's a bit like Sonny playing up top in that they're not really any good there.
Sonny is too weak as a striker and Richy is too slow as a winger.

It's going to take Wilson a while to get back to fitness, so I think it'll be a while before he's competing for a starting spot.

Tel may well get some time up top because we all know Richy can break again at any moment but I think most of his chances will come on either wing.
Ange does like to rotate his attackers (if he has any available!), so there should be plenty of time for everyone to rotate, get enough minutes and earn the right to prove themselves.

Edit - sorry, just realised that we're in the Scarlett thread and I was talking about Tel!
Yes, I'm an idiot.

Scarlett will have to scrape minutes as and when he can. It's not going to be easy for him but that's the life of a young player in the PL.

I think he will get plenty of sub appearances, if he can get 3 or more goals and/or make game changing impacts like against Elfsborg then he will extend his career here. If he doesn’t, then it might become quite crowded for that striker spot come next season.

Either way, I’m glad he has given his career a real chance. I would bet we sell in the summer to a championship team with a buy back clause.

He has the advantage that he’s a different type of striker to Richarlison and Tel in that he plays centrally. When Solanke comes back he’ll have more of an issue but at the moment he can come on and we can change things up if required. Nice to have options.

If Scarlett can relax a bit I think he will get goals. He seems to try too hard and it works against him. Saying that if our providers can get the ball to him in good positions I’m confident he can put the ball in the back of the net, he’s always been a natural finisher.
