Apparently they are in desperate need for a striker so wouldn't be surprised to see him go straight in.

I’ve never understood the mentality of being disappointed if our loanees don’t get enough game time. For the most part they are going to teams they should be aiming to get into the first 11 of. If Dane ends up on the bench at Oxford then questions seriously need to be asked about his longevity at Spurs.
Surely you’ve answered your own question. If a player doesn’t get game time it either means 1) it was a bad loan that didn’t provide a good opportunity for first team football and/or 2) they haven’t taken the opportunity meaning they aren’t at the level we hoped. Either is disappointing

True, but what I was more alluding to was why would we as Spurs fans expect the loan side to keep playing our kids if the player is not up to scratch and could potentially cost them? Portsmouth got promoted last season, and I don’t know if Dane played every single match but if they did decide to drop him at one point due to a lack of contribution then fair play to them. I wouldn’t be expecting them to be thinking about the Spurs players’ interest when they’re fighting for promotion. I don’t subscribe to this idea of a loan move to a league 1 side for a player trying to break into a premier league team being bad because Portsmouth couldn’t fit him in. It would’ve been bad because the kid didn’t make the most of the opportunity.

I do agree with what you're saying but in the past, we've loaned players out, only for the manager who wanted them to leave and the new gaffer wants to build his own team.
Of course a player has to earn his spot but sometimes the deck is stacked against him too much.
A bit like Veliz last season and whoever it was that Johnny Jackson fucked over at Charlton.

Like, we shouldn't send Dane on loan to a club that has an established strike partnership, then blame him as a kid who couldn't break into the team.

The club has to take some responsibility in finding a suitable loan, not just ship them off anywhere and let them sink or swim.
It's not black and white, it's a fine balancing act but we have a duty of care to help these kids forge a decent career for themselves, at whatever level that may end up being.

Proper fuck up leading to Oxford loss. Not much to say about Scarlett, hope for more minutes for next game.

I just don’t see him making it with us.
He needs a successful loan in league 2 & therefore be snapped up by someone like Parrot was.

Just loan him to somewhere he can play every game ffs don't care the level of the league
Dilan Markanday has had a tough couple of years after being injured on his debut for Blackburn. Last season he was in and out of the team, looking good in patches but not building any rhythm to his game. This season he has gone out on loan to Chesterfield in League Two. Those Blackburn fans who still had hopes for him were dismayed, and the Spireites are pinching themselves unable to believe their luck. He should be aiming to play at a higher level, but he needs regular football to get his confidence back. And he needs to start getting on the scoresheet again. Forwards do, particularly young ones. So hopefully he has thought it through and decided he needs to swallow his pride and step down in order to step back up. So, yes, maybe that’s what Scarlett should be doing.

Yeah Dane unfortunately isn’t going to make it with us. He just doesn’t have anything that makes him stand out.

He isn’t overly fast, or strong, doesn’t have amazing movement and his finishing is pretty basic. He will probably have a half decent career at league 1 level if he can get his head straight.

Compare him to our other striker out on loan who has just scored a winner in La Liga then it’s a huge huge huge difference.

He maybe another Rory Allen, Neal Fenn or Shaq Coulthirst.. Lots of early promise but ending up scratching around the lower levels looking for a game.
