I’m certainly concerned about asking Davies to come in from the cold and play 3 times a week.
When Romero is fit though, he should be asked to move left side. He’s the more senior guy so should be putting his hand up to adapt for the team’s benefit.
Looks like vdv back before Romero. Wouldn't take Dragusin out right now, definitely benefiting from a run of games. Gentle Ben doesn't deserve to be dropped either right now.

They need to be rotated though regardless of form. Otherwise run them into the ground until they get injured. The point in having 4 centre backs is so that doesn't happen. We have another situation where both Romero and VdV are out so Dragusin and Davies are playing 3 games per week. Davies in particular being in his 30s can't keep that up.

What makes you say VDV will be back before Romero? Ange the other day says he's close so could be back on Thursday or Sunday whereas VDV is still a few weeks away with 15th December penciled in

Ange saying he’s hopefully back for training by Friday at the earliest. At this point do we really start to think his heart is in it for us anymore? In an inconsistent team he’s been more inconsistent than anyone else then to cap it off aggravating injuries going away with Argentina (I know we played him against Ipswich but how many times have we seen this injury cycle with Romero and Lo Celso especially).

It’s seemingly a foregone conclusion we’ll sell him if he doesn’t extend. I’m wondering if it’s a foregone conclusion he won’t extend. Doesn’t seem really committed to us at all and I’d be shocked if he did extend at this point. Shame because it’s like a self perpetuating cycle - player does well, gets some suitors, head turns and loses focus, then leaves because we’re off the pace. When if the player stayed focussed then we’d have a better chance success!

He's travelled a lot hasn't he. I know he's not been good enough but hopefully his time recovering will see him a bit more refreshed. I'm not convinced his head is turned. I think he's just in bad form and needs to rediscover it.

When you can easily get more money elsewhere, we will always be at risk of losing sought after players. It happened before, and will happen again in the future.

Especially when we’re as far off challenging as we have been for a long time. Very little to stick around for if you’re an ambitious player is the sad reality.

We’ve been this type of club for the last 50 years with the odd few years as an exception.

I do remember when we broke the transfer record with Gazza back 1988.

Sort of, but we had a number of years in and around the top positions in the league under Poch, Conte and even Redknapp. It just feels like we’re miles away from challenging right now as we’re so inconsistent and the squad seriously lacks depth in key positions.

The work that the coach and the players under that Poch regime to get us to challenging for titles and honours was phenomenal. That can be undone by taking your eye off things and making bad decisions. To undo that will again take significant work and likely investment.
we are better than we were and I think the trajectory of upwards. But closing the gap from
mid table to European places should be well within our grasp. To make that further step is very very difficult.

Doesn't seem like we've even offered him a contract to stay

Are the Michael Bridge rumour true? He’s fit and refusing to play?
Sounds like bullshit.

A quick google search confirms such bull
